Prayers for a 12 year old
Moms View Message Board: Prayer Requests: Prayers for a 12 year old
If you don't mind, would y'all please say a prayer for a friend of mine. Kristin is a 12 year girl with cp. She is the daughter of my friend Helen. She was diagnosed with the flu on thursday, on Friday morning, she just got very very sick. She was taken by ambulance to childrens hospital, she is in the PICU. She was sedated and put on a vent. They tried to remove the vent today and she isn't keeping her stats up and her lungs are still gunky. Her BP is very low and she is just very sick. Kristin is non verbal and tube fed. So she can't tell them what is wrong and they can't understand exactly what is going on. She has been hyperventilating, bleeding from biting her tongue, it has just been awful. Helen has 3 other children, so her time to be at the hospital is very limited, her husband is really pulling the lions share of that right now. Prayers for quick healing would greatly by appreciated.
aww I will say a prayer for Kristin and her family
I'm so sorry they're all going through this - especially Kristin! She will be in my prayers for a speedy and full recovery!
Will keep Kristin and her family, in my prayers.
I will keep Kristin and her family in my prayers, too.
Will be keeping the doctors in my prayers too. Hopefully, they will find what they are missing and be able to help her quickly... ((((hugs)))) and prayers for Kristin and all that know her..
Kristin and her family will be in my prayers. Please let us know how it's going with her.
No real changes as of last night. They have kept the vent off of her and are just keeping oxygen on her. She just can't keep her stats up without it. They are still keeping her sedated because if they don't she still panics. Still running a high temp.
I will keep Kristin and the entire family in my prayers Kaye. She's at TXCH? They are awesome, they'll figure it out.
Well she may be improving a bit. With motrin her temp stays at 99, which is a huge plus. They are hoping she is on the downside of this illness.
Keeping them all in my thoughts.. Keep us posted.
She isn't really doing any better. They moved her to a regular room for a few days, but she is back in the picu again. Honestly they just don't know why she isn't getting any better. she is on a respirator and sedated 24/7 now, with multi antibiotics running through her. It has now been 2 full weeks in the hospital.
I'm sorry to hear this. She'll continue to be in my prayers.
She, her family and the doctors are still in my prayers... Please keep us updated.. Poor thing, how rough on her family.
I'm so sorry! I will keep her in my prayers.
Will keep her in my prayers. That's so sad.
I just thought I would update. Kristin is still very sick, still in the hospital. She has been off the respirator now for about 4 days. She is still battling a high temp, yesterday they couldn't get it below 104, with lots of meds. They are trying to wean her off the sedation meds, so she is a little more alert. The down side is that it makes her agitated and they have to watch her respiration rate. This family still has a LONG time before things are back to normal. And ultimatly they don't know exactly what is wrong. 4 weeks of a high temp is not normal.
Well another day, more bad news. She is back in picu. They did a spinal tap that they initially said was clear, now they think it isn't. They suspect she could have menegitis. They are back on antibiotics and will re run the test in a couple of days. This family is tired, really they just don't have that much more left in them. It is time for Kristin to heal!
What a tragedy! This family remains in my prayers.
Sending prayers.
WOW, how sad. I will say a prayer for Kristin. I have a niece that age and her name is Kristin too. What horrible stuff for such a young child to go thru.
Continued prayers.
Just an update. Kristin is still in the hospital. They are doing good. She seems to be healthy, just addicted to drugs, so they are in the process of detoxing her. This has been very difficult. They think they are headed in the right direction though, if things continue to get a bit better each day, they are looking at about 1-2 more weeks.
That's great news!
I'm glad she is getting better. Detox doesn't sound like a fun process.
Don't know *how* I missed this particular thread. I hope everything is successful and she recovers and can return home to her family quickly!
This is great news, continued prayers for her, her family and the doctors that are treating her.
Okay more prayers. Kristin is actually doing very well, they are talking about maybe letting her come home the end of this week, or early next week. However their 8 year old woke up with 102 temp. Normally we know this is a virus and will pass. but this family is spent, they really don't have the resources for another sick kid (emotional resources). They are worried if kristin is let out on friday that the other sick kid will keep that from happening. So prayers that Lauren gets this little illness over with!
Woo Hoo!! Kristin came home today! We are so thrilled. This really is such a miracle. 6 weeks ago the docs had all but given up on her. Thanks for the prayers!
That's WONDERFUL news!!!
