San Juan, here we come. Where to stay? And other questions...
DD and I are going to go to San Juan to meet up with DH this summer. *Where would you recommend we stay? *Any advice on renting a car? *Any advice on flying with a five month old? Is it worth it to get her her own seat (Eve's already recommended this)? I've heard flights to PR are quite full. *What baby gear would you say is a "must have" - pack 'n' play, umbrella stroller, etc. We plan to rent a car, so I'll need to bring her carseat. Any words of wisdom and advice are welcome!! Anyone willing to be my personal assistant to help me on and off the airplane with my baby stuff?!
Lots of hotels have cribs available so maybe you can get by without pack n play. Carseat is probably a must, you can rent one with rental car usually but if she has her own seat on airplane you'll need it for that. Good umbrella stroller versus wearing baby in front pack or backpack. This depends on how heavy she is, what activities you'll be doing and what is more comfortable for you. I don't know anything about San Juan but I am sure you'll have a good time! Travelling with infants can be stressful but honestly I think it is a good age to travel. Not active enough to be upset by being confined. Plus people expect a baby to cry so not such a big deal. Try to relax and enjoy.
I would definitely take a pack-n-play. I never traveled without one, when mine were little. It is comforting to know you have a safe place for your little one. I have no advice on places to stay but I recommend visting the rain forest. It is awesome! It is one of the tours my son still talks about!
Yes, I would get her her own seat. It is MUCH safer and it is a more enjoyable flight for both yourself and those sitting next to you. It is amazing how much room a mom holding a baby can take up. LOL I had one next to me on a flight once and I can't tell you how many times I got hit and bumped. Being a mom, I understood, but wish she would have gotten the extra seat.
