If you call my house and...(just a little vent!)
you don't know who you're calling, I'm not going to tell you! And if the first response you give me after I say hello is, "Who is this?", be prepared for me to hang up on you! LOL
LOL, I get that once in a while too. I usually say "well, who are you calling?"
That bugs me too! And, when my DH answers, he is always so pleasant and tells them who he is. I always get on his case about it. Drives me nuts
I absolutely agree. If someone says "who is this", I either say "who are you calling?" or hang up. If you don't know who you are calling, it is definitely not my problem.
Yep. I always say, "Who were you calling?" too. I did have a great uncle that would literally forget who he was calling from the time he dialed to the time someone answered. I always knew it was him, though. He'd take a couple deep breaths before speaking. Really creepy if you don't know who it is! lol
My husband bought a new cell phone last year. He had to have one for his job. While he was at work, he was getting phone calls for someone named Jonathan. He didn't have time to deal with it, so he just said "Sorry, you got the wrong number" and hung up. Then they started calling while he was at home, so I stared answering the phone for him. I said, "You have the wrong number" and the woman on the other end didn't believe me! So I asked her, "Well, what number are you trying to reach?" and SHE said, "What number is this?" I said, "I do not have to give you that information. Why don't you tell me who you are?" And SHE said, "Why don't you tell me YOUR name?" At that point I hung up. BUT, they called AGAIN the next day. This time it was a different woman, much nicer, and come to find out, it's 5/3 Bank trying to call Jonanthan, the guy who must have had this cell phone number before dh. I explained that we had had it for more than 6 months, and if they could please stop calling!
The only time I get this is when it's one of my dks' friends calling. I can't tell you the last time I heard this from an adult but I'd be irritated, too. My phone pet peeve is when someone calls and after saying "Hello", they say "It's me". You know, there are a huge amount of people that refer to themselves as "me" and I'm not always able to identify your voice in three little words. Is it that much harder to say "It's Cori"?
Oh, I HATE that!!! My house phone forwards to my cell when I'm not home, and I HATE getting the "Who is this?" when people call. Argh!!! Cori, I'll have to remember not to do that "Hey, it's me!" on your voicemail anymore *blushing*!
I had someone calling my house for about a month asking for Sheila My name is Sherri so I thought wrong name so I'd ask Do you meam Sherri They yelled at me and said Sheila They were very rude. After a few days I blocked my # and called them and said this is Sheila any messages. The other end of the line just was quiet. They didnt know what to say I think someone was playing a game. A week later they called again and asked for Sheila I just said she died and never heard from them again.
My answer: "Yo Mama! Who dis?"
Aw, you're special, Crys! No one else calls me "My Cori!!!" I always know it's you. Argh, another pet peeve. If you call my house and ask for someone, don't argue with me when I tell you that you have the wrong number. I know who lives here, I know that there isn't a Steve here and that Steve hasn't used this number in the nine years I've had it. You either dialed the wrong number or were given the wrong number and arguing with me isn't going to convince me that I do have someone named Steve hidden away somewhere.
Oh, that is the worst, when they think you're lying or something. Look, he doesn't live here, I swear. Then you get the repeated wrong numbers, like they think maybe they misdialed, and they hang up when they realize they just spoke to you! Some people have no phone etiquette! We also get calls from soldiers in the unit pretty often (like this morning, ugh!), and if it forwards to my cell or they call mine instead of his, they get all caught off guard. "Uh... yeah... um. Is, uh... Sgt. A. there??" I think they are afraid I'm going to bite their heads off or something, especially if it's early in the morning. I'm like "SPIT IT OUT ALREADY!"
