Clothes question?
What should I take to wear in England? Denim and dark colors? I am assuming its cool weather there now? So jackets? I just dont know what to pack. I have never been and am clueless. I dont want to stick out like a tourist ya know?
Almost certainly a raincoat or raincoat with zip-in liner. Sweaters, so you can dress in layers. Here's the link for a website for current weather for London, which sounds a little cooler than what we are having here, just outside of Philadelphia, but higher humidity and more rain. http://weather.cnn.com/weather/forecast.jsp?locCode=EGLL
Dark colors are more common there. Don't plan on wearing your spring colors yet. Layers, as Ginny said. If you really don't want to look touristy, you might have to change your mindset a bit. Most women wear basics (black or navy slacks or dark denim, dark clean-lined sweaters or button-down shirts) but accessories are worn with much more style than most American moms. Color in your wardrobe comes from your shoes, purse and jewelry. Bright, sequined flats for walking around town, a big, scrunchy hobo bag purse, dangley earrings even for daytime wear and a cute costume brooch on your jacket. Sneakers aren't very common and a dead giveaway is wearing white socks. The sporty look didn't seem to be very common there. Most women's makeup is gorgeous and flawless but your hair is generally left natural (embrace your waves, if you have them and don't worry about the frizz) and often pulled up into a messy bun or ponytail. Those were my observations from my trips there. I'm sure Maria can give you some advice from a resident's perspective. Eeeek! I'm so excited for you. I know you're going to have a great time!!!
Thank you ladies!!!
