Need Cracker Barrel Recommendations!
I'm going there for the first time tonight. What do you recommend? I am a meat and potatoes girl, no fish please! I also prefer it bland, not spicy. I know their meatloaf would not appeal as I've been browsing the menu and they put an awful lot of 'stuff' in it!! I'm leaning toward some sort of chicken or ham meal. And if any particular salads or veggies or soups or desserts are awesome, please let me know! Thanks! Oh, any kid food recommendations?
Oh, and what are fried apples? And the beef stew sounded good, too. Is it tender with carrots and onions and potatoes?
OH my goodness. I have been going to Cracker Barrel since I was a baby it is AWESOME!!! Wait until you browse through the store!! Their ham is to die for and so are their mashed potatoes and carrots. The fried apples are so good. My favorite there is breakfast. Oh my I am going to have to plan a family breakfast there Sunday!!!!
They are a homecooking type of place, think black eye pea or owens, type place. I like the chicken fried chicken, the mashed potatos. Fried apples, would be like a fried apple pie type thing. My fav thing about Cb is if you buy a book on tape, you can return it at any store and exchange it, just like a library
Ditto Tonya!! We live for C Barrel around here! I LOVE the chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes and another side. My DH can't say enough about their steaks either, and they have a fabulous salad. The fried apples are GREAT! I just don't think you can go wron at Cracker Barrel. Enjoy!
I love their pot roast, mashed potatoes and corn, and the fried apples are great! We'll be going there on our way home. We don't have CB in Canada, which is a real bummer!! Enjoy!!
I always get the pot roast and the hashbrown casserole. I vary between the other sides. I have never had a bad dinner there. I don't think I have ever had a dessert though.... I am not nuts about their breakfast menu though.
I'm with Vicki. My fave is the pot roast and hashbrown casserole. Then I get the apples and biscuits and make a dumpling for dessert. I break open a biscuit, smooth on butter and top with apples. Yum!
