Best thing for the flu?
I got the flu shot last fall but I think I have some sort of variation of the flu. Threw up all last night and couldn't even keep juice down. Ugh. I'm so exhausted. I can't get to the store. My whole body aches and I can't imagine taking Connor with me. I'm washing my hands like crazy so Connor doesn't get it either. What's best to do when you have the flu? Are there any home remedies to make me feel better? I might try some soup for lunch...ugh...
Unfortunately, I think you have to let it run its course. Keep hydrated, get as much rest as possible and take Tylenol or Advil to help with the aches and headaches/fever (if you have one). I hope you're feeling better soon!
tylenol severe cold and flu ! works wonders. and juice and fluids and of course chicken soup
(((((Heidi))))) Oh NO! As if you need this right now. Good thing your Mom is in good hands. The kids and I got hit with a stomach virus last month. It was horrid! Vomitting, diarrhea, body aches, no appetite... Not fun. I would try to keep up on fluids. Whatever you feel like drinking, even if you're only able to take a few sips. We don't usually drink soda but find it does help settle the stomach when sick. I hope Connor doesn't get it. Could your neighbors watch him for awhile so you can get some rest?? ~*~*~*HEALTHY VIBES*~*~*~
Keep hydrated, definitely. Whatever you can keep down. If you can't keep juice down, try gingerale or cola. Lots of water if you can. Soup, if you can. If you can tolerate soda, don't get the diet soda, because you need what calories regular soda can provide. Maybe apple juice or grape juice would sit better. Sherbet? Jello?
Rest and fluids. I'm coming down with something, I am hoping it's not the flu, but I'll be thinking of you and Connor while laid up today! Feel better soon hon!
The flu shot doesn't help for gastro-enteritis. It only helps against influenza, which gives you a fever, body aches and makes you very fatigued. Gastroenteritis is an infection of the digestive tract, usually caused by a bacteria or virus. Symptoms of gastroenteritis include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and crampy abdominal pain. The disorder usually lasts no longer than several days. Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is an infectious disease caused by a virus spread by respiratory or direct-contact routes. Symptoms include fever, muscle/joint aches and upper-respiratory problems such as coughing, congestion, runny nose and watery eyes.
Great advice above, Heidi. Hope you feel better soon! (((hugs)))
Thanks, ladies! I DO feel better! It has been a crazy 24 hours!!
