To all of you who recommended this book, I wanted to thank you. My marriage wasn't in danger, but it wasn't as great as it could be, and I bought this book. We've both been reading it, and one thing he says about ruining today by staying angry over the past ruins a marriage. DH and I talked and decided we'd both been doing that, and needed to let go, and fully learn to love and trust each other. Our marriage has completely changed since then, and is absolutely amazing in all areas. We were having some problems in the sex department, as well as the other areas like communication and trust. It really changed both of us, and if you HAVEN'T read it, you really must. I think it's even great for any relationship, not just a marriage or a committed couple, it's an amazing book. :)

they also have a parenting version that I highly reccomend. It does really help me relate to that kid who is the least like me :)

Thanks, Crystal! I have heard about this book and meant to look for it. I think it's great you DH is reading it, too.
Thanks for the reminder!

That's great, Crystal! I read the book many years ago, but wished I could have read it sooner in our marriage. And ditto Kaye...the parenting one is terrific as well.

I'll have to pick up the parenting one... both of my children are not at all like me, Shane is actually like N in a huge way (again with the whole environment vs biology thing, you'd never tell they were related by blood!!) and Madison is so diva. I have a difficult time relating to both of them, and Shane can give me a lot of trouble because of his obsessive tendencies. *Sigh* Isn't parenting fun?! I'll definitely put that on my list of things to read next, I picked up "His Needs, Her Needs" at the same time, so that's next, but I really am so impressed by "Love Languages", and never would have considered reading it without all of the rave reviews from MV members.

So Happy you are reading this book, don't forget to re read it when you start talking in your "own" language again, hmmmmmmmm does that come from experience:)LOL, this is the only book on marraiges I reccomend, because it's so easy for both spouses to read, comprehend, and apply!

Enjoy it, and make sure your DH/DBs read it too!! Honestly, Nate finished before I did, and we're both impressed at the immediate changes we have seen in our marriage!
