For all of you that live in the Dustin, Orange Beach, etc. area, what are the beaches like now?

We are going to head south for Spring Break, end of March. We would like to go to Destin again or head to Gulf Shores. I know we are booking late but I just now found out I can take that week off.

Dora, I don't know what Destin (east of me) or Orange beach (west of me) is like, but I live right off of Pensacola beach and it is still in bad shape. Ivan was in 2004 and Dennis was almost a yesr ago. There is soooo much debris in the sand and water.....jagged glass, concrete, bits and pieces of metal everywhere. That's moer towards the road. You have to be really careful. I don't know how long it is going to take them to clean it up or how they can even do it! Its cleaner the closer you get to the water but there is still debris. We still have a lot of construction going on also. Hopefully someone closer to those areas can answer your question. They keep saying our beach is ready to go for vacations but I don't know. Maybe Annie can add some input.

There isn't much going on Perdido Beach or Orange Beach, either. Alot of construction and congestion without much open in the way of restaurants and motels. You might have more luck heading towards Fort Walton and Destin.

I love Destin, but it's still a little chilly for us at the end on March. (That's when our spring break is, too.) We go down to St. Pete Beach...much warmer!
