DH is getting promoted in the Marine Corps to Sergeant (E5). This means any promotion from here on out is going to be difficult and he must be tip top in every way, shape and form. I'm happy that he's getting promoted but I know with higher rank comes more responsibility. I know he'll do okay though. Just thought i'd share. His goal was to pick up rank before the baby is born. It also means a whopping $200 extra per month, lol. What compensation!
Congrats!! DH was promoted last month, to E5. (He was an E5 for 3 years before he got out, but argh... that's a whole other story about his coming back in!!) I know that it's the biggest pay jump for a while, so even though it's only about $250 a month, we were so happy to finally see it! Then again, the Army is so desperate for NCOs, he'll probably make E6 as soon as he is eligible, that's where life gets *real* fun! *eyeroll* Anyway, CONGRATS, Sergeant!! Are you going to pin him?? I got to go out to the feild and pin N, and even give him blood rank. (The Captain goes "Ma'am, feel free to hit it in, you're a civilian and can get away with it!" LOL!!) It was a cool experience!
Congratulations!!!!! That is really great!
Congrats!! My dh got promoted to E5 last year right before they left for Iraq. I wished I could have been there to see if, but oh well. Tell your hubby that we are very proud of him.
I'm not sure if i'm going to pin him. If he asks I will but otherwise I hate any type of attention and I just know i'd mess up with everyone watching, lol. I'm definitely going to enjoy the time before he picks up E6. I know that's the tough one. Though my big eyeroll to DH was when he mentioned a wetdown. I just looked at him like "You're kidding me, right?" Then when the reality kicked in of him picking up, he decided he doesn't want to do that and wants to show more responsibility both professionally and personally. I guess i'll find out later today if i'll pin him or not.
LOL Melissa, the worst part about pinning N is our name starts with A, so he was first in line. I actually stood in first position while they read the NCO creed and all, and my kids were messing around on the bleachers. Since they were out in the field I've got all of the "big wigs" watching, I'm trying to discreetly tell them to "SIT DOWN AND BEHAVE BEFORE I STRANGLE YOU!!!!" Oh, the embarrassment. Anyway, if you do decide to pin him, or are given the chance, go for it, it's a really nice moment.
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome hun!!!!!
Congratulations! That's a great honor and a great raise! (DH's company is still being difficult about negotiating a new contract and he hasn't had a raise in about 2 years now, I think!)
Congratulations!
