Don Knotts has died
Don Knotts dies at age 81 This is one of those actors that I grew up watching in The Andy Griffith Show reruns, Three's Company (I was too young to catch the innuendos) and several Disney movies. I'm so sorry to see that he's passed away.
He was a great actor. I thought he was hilarious on the Andy Griffith Show and one of my all time favorite movies is The Incredible Mr. Limpett. Remember that one?
I don't remember The incredible Mr. Limpett, would like to see it though if I could ever run across it. I loved Don Knotts. Who could forget him in Three's Company is the "goofy ladie's man" Mr. Furley?? I was in the sixth grade when that was on. I remember my my teacher thinking it was just something that children should "not" be allowed to watch!!
Mr. Limpett is a movie where Don Knott's character falls into the ocean and becomes a fish. It is part regular actors and the fish part is animated. I'm surprised Hollywood hasn't recreated this treasure of a movie. Maybe they will now.
Annie, there were plans to remake it back in 1998 with Jim Carrey playing Knotts' character. I haven't seen that movie but I've heard of it several times through the years. Knotts' said he'd be honored to have Carrey play his part in a remake. As you said, maybe now...
I just read somewhere that Jim Carrey was looking at the part!!
I am so sad that he has died. I grew up with watching Andy Griffith, Three's Company, The Apple Dumpling Gang...so many things. He was truly a giant in the industry and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed watching throughout my life.
I live in Morgantown, WV...Don Knotts hometown where he went to Morgantown High and West Virginia University. My mom actually remembered seeing him in talent shows with his ventriloquist's dummy..that is how he got his start! My favorite Don Knotts movie is The Ghost and Mr. Chicken...we watch it every Halloween. I loved just about everything he was in...he will be missed.
We saw this while out to dinner last night, how sad!!
I think my fave is The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. Cracks me up every time I watch it. But I do love most everything he's done.
This is very sad, but makes my mom's birthday gift a very appropriate one. A couple of months ago I found a board game of the Andy Griffith Show and I knew it was the perfect gift for my mom's b-day on March 9. Now it seems to have more meaning.
