Scarce as hen's teeth - maybe not
Here's an article about researchers who have found teeth and tooth-like structures in certain mutant chickens. Fun. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/nation/13941682.htm
First reaction - EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Second reaction - why would chickens need teeth? LOL
Where in the world do you find these things?? Very strange!
I heard about it on NPR, which I listen to on the way to and from work. I was caught by the idea, remembering the old catch phrase - scarce as hen's teeth - so I did a little googling. NPR presented it in an amusing way, recounting the old studies done generations ago, contrasting that with these new studies. NPR concluded its presentation by noting that Couvier, the scientist who, 200 years ago, derided the notion of chickens having teeth, taught the man who taught the man who taught the man.... who taught one of the scientists involved in the study in the article. Small world. (You have to remember that I have no children, no spouse, and more free time than most for those reasons. So I can afford the time to google for something as silly and strange as this.)
Ginny, I have a feeling you and my DH would get along VERY well! His mind is a trap for news *trivia* and strange and unusual news topics. He listens to talk radio, NPR, etc. only, when he's driving (I listen but not as much as he does), and he checks many websites daily and comes up with THE most bizarre info! And I ask the same question of him - *WHERE* do you find this stuff?!? LOL
Lol ! I am going to have to check out my chickens.( Maybe they have some teeth !! )I must say that they have been laying a lot more eggs lately. It`s the longer day`s for sure Spring is on it`s way.
