Rough morning
I have the same routine every morning get up let the dogs out (we have a border collie who is 11 blind and just an old good girl and we have a 1 1/2 year old yorkie poodle mix) then wake up all 4 kids get them dressed, teeth brushed and hair then let dogs in well this morning after getting that all done I just sat down on the couch to talk to dkids before school. Our next door neighbor came pounding on our door yelling at hubby they got your dog and trying to kill it. so hubby runs out to find 2 pitpulls pulling our yorkie under the fence and procede to throw her through the air they pits take off but not after scaring the holy crap out of us. We get her in she takes off to the bedroom hiding dd is crying because she thinks she is going to die. Our other dog Taz had bent the fence almost into hitting it so hard trying to help Mollie.(which i think if they got ahold of her they would have killed her she is so old). anyway we get mollie out from under the bed check her all out no puncher wounds just slobber everywhere. Dh took kids to school and I checked her down again and she was having problems walking on her hind legs. Hubby and I took her to the vet to get checked out all was okay no bleeding internal just really brused and in shock. Gave her some meds and told us to bring her home and warm bath and alot of rest. After calling the animal control and police after it happened and when we got home they caught one which they had to dart and knock it out and the other got way. So they scanned it for a chip which we haven't heard but it had no tags. They are going to try and catch the other hold both until someone clams and then we are going to press charges against the owners for vet costs and the animals will more than likely be put down. I love all dogs but this is to much. We have a neighbor who also has 2 pits and they were puppies when they moved in but now when my kids or our dogs are in the yard the male will walk the fence and growl but there nothing we can do atleast thats what the vet says we just have to wait for something to happen or build a better fence. I know the house is a rental and I have thought about trying to find the owner and telling them whats going on hopefully they can do something
Bull dogs are aggressive dogs, and very territorial, no question. My son swears (and I am inclined to believe him) that with proper training and responsible ownership, they are OK as pets (but not around children and not around smaller animals). Of course, these dogs were running loose, which is absolutely, absolutey wrong. I am so glad Mollie is pretty much OK. I hope your kids and you will be OK soon. It does say to me that you will have to be careful about letting the dogs out by themselves, at least for the next several days. I hope they find the jerk who owns these dogs and you sue him into the ground. I would definitely notify the owner of the neighboring rental property about the behavior of his tenant's dogs. And I would do it in writing, and keep a copy. Once they have notice, if they don't do anything and something bad happens (heaven forbid), the owner may have some liability for not taking steps to manage the problem. Have you spoken to your neighbors about their dogs' behavior? You do have children and small dogs, and you shouldn't have to pay for the cost of building a better fence to protect yourselves.
Oh how scary. I am so sorry. I hope she quickly forgets what happened. Poor puppy.
I'm a true believer in how the dogs are raised...I'm SO sorry this happened!! Keep us posted!!
