Spinach fresh or frozen
Sorry that im posting this here and not in the recipe section. What Id like to know is about fresh or frozen spinach. Is it interchangeable in a recipe when it say frozen? and do u measure it the same way? I have a recipe for spinach and can get it on sale 99 cents for a big ole bag of fresh? and how do u measure it? stuff it tight in the measuring cup ? BTW Id sure like it if more people would post more on the recipe board ... Im goingt o start trying to do that also...
What are you trying to make? I usually use fresh, but I'll use frozen if I am making a spinach lasagna or something.
I use both but it depends on the recipe. When dh eats it as a side dish he only likes the frozen kind.
Spinach Chicken Parmesan Recipe ...this is a baked dish ... can I use the fresh in it ? do u want the whole recipe to be able to tell me.
I think you can use the fresh for that. It will be cooked and somewhat soggy anyway, so I don't see why not.
Just remember that what looks like a lot of FRESH spinach, isn't very much at all once it's cooked.
Ditto Karen- you should probably double the amount for fresh!
I interchange both. If if calls for for fresh (like for hot dishes), I thaw out a box of frozen. Once it's thawed out, I wring it out in a dish towel to get out as much of the liquid as possible. I use fresh spinach for salads and sadwiches.
