Do you have a portable DVD player in your car?
What type is it and do you like it? Connor *hates* road trips and toys/books are useless once the raisins run out. I'm resorting to rolling down his window for a little bit, but it's quite chilly.
Yes, we have an Emerson dual screen one that we bought at Walmart. We dont use it for each car trip, mostly if we have A LOT of errands to do. It seems to keep Faith quiet. She loves the Wiggles.
We don't have a portable one, but we got one installed that folds down in my car. Rylee loves it, and it is definately a life saver.
No, we don't have one and probably never will, since our kids are almost all grown up. They survived 200-mile-trips to Grandma's, with just stuff they brought into the car, even from little on. The worst trip of them all, was when Emily was just a month old, so a DVD player wouldn't have helped, then. I survived a trip out to Washington, DC and back without one and my kids survived a trip out to Niagara Falls and back without one. We like listening to music and are very excited to have the Ipod for our next trip, because we won't have to bring individual cds along! We have the 30 gig video ipod, so we can have lots of music, just with that!
We use to have a portable Magnavox DVD player. We found it at Sam's. They have one the same at Wal-Mart I think. We loved it! But it got stolen out of our office. Thats another post! lol Dh also had a splitter so that 2 people could plug in headphones AND he had an adapter that we plugged into the tape player and we could hear the movies thru our truck speakers and didnt use the headphones. So that was nice. When I bought my truck last Summer it came with a DVD/TV already installed in the roof that flips down. Now I am totally spoiled to that!!! No wires, etc... Came with wireless headphones. And there is also a place in the back where the kids can switch over and listen to their own music as well, plus I can push a button up front and hear the movie thru the stereo speakers (so we dont have to use headphones. We are all loving it! My kids are older, but the other day we were working on our farm and the kids were getting tired and cold so dh and I put them in the truck with snacks and a movie. LOL!!! So they could rest, warm up and quit whining. We had about 2 tons of JUNK to get loaded on a trailer from an old dump. Last night dh informed me I needed to help him haul more firewood this weekend. I said 'OK, but when I get cold I am getting in the truck and watching a movie and you are on your own!' He just laughed. Have fun shopping!
We have a portable one, I'm not sure what the brand is. I love it and it has helped so much. I bought a case that goes on the back of the seat so the kids don't have to hold it. I'll probably use it for dd on the bus if I can get some wireless head phones. We take it to the Young Marines meetings and it keeps all the younger siblings that are there entertained.
We have a portable Audiovox, and with sales and coupons spent about $70 on it at the PX. It's AWESOME!!
