Is this dangerous if I'm pregnant???????
We just adopted a mouse from Petco. I am just wondering (after the fact...I know...a little late!) if it poses any danger to a pregnant woman or unborn baby? TIA ladies!
I'll check with my vet tech son when he gets home - he has a colony of mice and works with lab mice daily (thousands of them). In the meantime, wear disposable gloves when you pick up the mice and have dh change the litter. (It's also recommended that someone other than a pregnant woman deal with cat litter, by the way.)
According to March of Dimes website. You should avoid contact with the mouse. And as Ginny said, have someone else change the cat litter because of the risk of toxoplasmosis transmission. http://www.marchofdimes.com/pnhec/159_16809.asp
Thanks ladies! I knew to stay away from cat litter. We don't have a cat anyway...thank God! I'm just not a big pet person. I am about to read the March of Dimes article now. Thanks Kelly.
