Need Disney Advice FAST
I'm trying to convince DH to go to Disney. It's not like we can afford it but if we wait til then, we will never go. Plus, we just got the $1600 cheques from Ralph (our premier). Mind you, we were planning to pay some bills with those but they are unexpected and if they hadn't of come we would have payed them some other way. So, here's the deal we are looking at through Alaskan airlines: Flights for 4 people Hotel accommendations for 4 nights 3 Day Park Hopper Bonus Ticket-Kids Free offer Seaworld One Day Admission for 4 people All this for around $2090CAD Is this a good deal? What do you all think?
Okay well I can't do the conversions...but a hotel runs anywhere from 79-99 on site this time of year. Seaworld tickets run 55 for an adult, 45 for a kid. Disney park hoppers run 220 adults 180 for kids. All of those are book prices, so without flight or discounts you are looking at about 1300 dollars. Disney has been advertising a family of four for 1500 dollars, I don't know if that includes airfare though.
American price was $1821
The $1500 Disney thing doesn't include air. Paula, what hotel? On property or off?
Oh I am so not the person to ask. I love Disney and I would be so totally tempted If I just got unexpected extra money. If your kids have never gone. I would definately do it. When are you thinking of going? I think that sounds like a good price. But honestly if you want Disney info you should check out the Disboards.com. They could teach you all kinds of tricks.

Well, my husband, as annoying as he is, is the voice of reason in our home. It really does make so much more sense to get these bills paid first and then start a slush fund for the trip...so I think that is what we are going to do. Even with the extra $1600 we would still spend between $2500-$3000 which would have us spending $1000-$1500 beyond the extra money. Oh well
If you can get that for $1800 American you're getting a pretty good deal. We were trying to plan a disney trip, and it was going to be upwards of US$3K to do all the things we wanted to do, plus transportation. I LOVE Disney, but DH and the kids have never been, so it's on our list of things to do in the near future.
Just an idea, but why not put a little of the money into a "Disney Fund", pay the bills with the rest, decide when you want to go and plan it out. The you'll have a date to look forward to and be able to put a little extra money aside every week or month. Of course, I'd go to Disney at the drop of the hat, so I may not be the best person to take advice from. LOL
No problem Paula! Take a cheaper trip to Nova Scotia! I know you love it here. ;)
Paula, may I make a suggestion to you? We just went to DisneyWorld in November and we had 4 day park hopper passes, stayed 4 nights 5 days. The first day we flew in and had to drop off luggage and head diretly to a park and stayed until late (when epcot closed). By the 5th day (the day we had to fly home)we were exhausted!!! We were suppose to go to Downtown Disney that morning, have lunch, then catch bus to airport and get home late in the evening. Instead, we were all so tired, we had a relaxing breakfast, put on swimsuits and let kids just play and relax all morning at resort. Packed slowly and headed to airport. OK, here is my point!!! We were trying to go as cheaply as possible as to be quite honest dh and I really didnt want to do this trip. lol Bad parents I know! But we did it for the kids, mostly so they would stop begging every single year when planning vacation. Anyway, if we had it to do over again we would spend a little more money, stay *atleast* 7 nights/8 days, and not be so darn rushed in every park!!! I think planning is the key to a good disney experience. So I vote for your dh suggestion. Plan, save, and enjoy it! Keep us posted.
When we booked our trip years ago. We booked it for 7 nights, but only bought five day hoppers. It let us wind down from the travel (and then we went to downtown disney), and let us sleep in on the day we traveled home. This was the perfect option for us, and saved us quite a bit on tickets. The catch is you book that on your own, not through disney! Due to this post I just started surfing for our trip. I want to go, but don't have the $$ right now. I am amazed at how expensive the tickets are (1400 for my family). I also think I might choose to stay offsight since I have 3 kids and can't fit into a cheap disney room.
