Splenda?
Does anyone use it? I did before I got pregnant with Matthew, but stopped when I decided to try and get pregnant. After I was nursing and then pregnant again and now nursing again. I have read that it is safe while pregnant and nursing but I'm a little unsure. I won't go anywhere near aspertime (sp?) I hate the taste and there is too much controversy surrounding it. I want to start to try losing a bit of weight and the book I bought suggests Splenda and I just wondered if anyone here has any experience with it.
I use it, and always have. Im still nursing Faith, so I hope its not too terrible. I dont use much of it, only when I drink hot tea, and I dont drink hot tea everyday.
My Dad is a diabetic and uses Splenda. Personally, I avoid all artificial sweeteners no matter how "safe" they claim to be. I'd rather limit my intake of all natural sugar, but that's just me.
Ditto Trina.
I use it all teh time, even the brown sugar blend and the baking kind.
Splenda is great, and it is made from sugar, so I personally think it's safe. Ame
Yeah I didn't really think of it as an artifical sweetner, but I still wondered about it. I forget to ask the doctor everytime I'm there.
While Splenda starts off as a sugar molecule, it is chemical-based and still has the same potential for risks as any artificial sweetener. Personally, I'm not a fan of adding artificial sweeteners to anything, although I do drink diet sodas. Very few studies have been done with human subjects. I'd do some research of your own to be on the safe side.
There is something called Stevia which is an herb or something. I have no experience with it, but I've heard it is a very good natural sweetner. Ame
I have liquid Stevia, but there have been no clinical studies on it's safety and it's way too sweet. One drop in a cup of coffee is too much. I saw some Stevia tablets the other day but didn't buy them. You can't really add it to baking as sugar changes the texture of baked products whereas Stevia would not. I want to use Splenda for baking and cooking. I'll do some more research, I don't think it is as bad Aspertime. Thanks Ame.
I use it in my ice tea on occasion. I went on a diet about a year ago that was no sugar basically and I started getting migranes from Splenda because I was using it way to often.
