House update
They've poured footers for the basement and garage slab. They've got the forms on the lot for the cement and will probably pour it next week. They're scheduled to start framing the 23rd. We just met with the sales office to do our final change order before they start framing, to make sure we get all the upgrades we want. We decided to do prewiring for celing fans in all the bedrooms since in the summer it will be a lot warmer upstairs than on the main floor. We are adding AC, but it'll still be warmer up there. We also did prewire for celing fan in the breakfast nook (it's standard in the living room and master bedroom). We are extending the patio from standard 10x10 to 12x16. The most exciting addition (as far as I'M concerned) is dh decided he'd like glass french doors between the master bedroom and the master bath!!! As some of you may remember this was a big disagreement for us--putting a door there or not. Granted, they are glass and you'll still be able to see through them, but it will cut down on the noise and if the light ends up being a problem I can always put curtains on them. I feel like this is somewhat of a victory for me! lol So hopefully I'll have pictures of at least walls by the end of the month.
Wow! Isn't it just so exciting?? I remember when we build our first house from scratch. Sounds like things are moving right along. Great choice on the doors between the master bedroom and bath. You won't be sorry you did it.
Sounds great!!!
I'm so excited for you!!! The plans sound wonderful!
How wonderful! Enjoy the whole process and keep us updated. It is fun watching construction!
Sounds like everything is going according to plan!
Cat, what type windows are you getting??????? That's an important investment as regards to your energy costs!
How exciting!!
Karen, the windows are listed as "Maintenance free vinyl, double paned" on the list of standards. They're probably the same as what our house now has, which I have no complaints about.
How Fun!! I'm remodeling, and wish I could just start at zero!!
The forms are up for the basement! They should pour cement sometime this week. I got a call yesterday with a tenative finish date of the end of March!!! I was told that they usually finish about two weeks after that, though. But we're still not closing until May. We still have to put our house on the market!
Cat, are they the double paned ones with the gas in the middle? We just replaced all the windows on our house last year and got those and it has made a HUGE difference.
