I'm doing mine now with the holidays being here.

I can't believe how much I've cleaned out. I have about 8 garbage bags of clothes, 2 boxes, 3 more bags of miscellaneous stuff, an old Christmas tree (my friend wants it), old golf clubs and a golf bag(nice enough for a garage sale), all kinds of cat stuff (a post, two litter boxes, a carrier), 2 storage type things, one is a little closet type thing and the other one is an old record type stand lol

I think that's everything. I'm getting my boyfriend to come over tomorrow to pick it all up and clear it out (donating it).

I can't wait for it to ALL be gone

So do you do this often or ? I seem to do it a couple of times a year or more lol....maybe I'm a short term pack rat ;)

p.s. that doesn't include the stuff I am keeping that I will find useful possibly, computer parts, partial cans of paint etc. etc. but I've organized it all and it's all put away

I try to do it twice each year, usually during the late winter and early fall. I can't stand to let things accumulate and I'm always tossing out an item or two. DH is a huge packrat and it makes him crazy when I start dumping things. He's always afraid I'll toss out something "important".

While my boyfriend doesn't live here he's like "when we're married" are you going to toss my stuff without asking me?

I think I'm the same way, I hate things accumulating which is why I clean out so much. Honestly I always toss things I don't need. Well recycle them at least. Here people just put out things that are good they don't want in the alley...it's unbelievable the things you can find!

Of the HOUSE?! I have never done a big clean up of the entire house at one time. Wow, that would simply be too big of a job. I pick one area at a time. Last month I did a thorough clean out of my walk-in closet. This past fall I cleaned out the garage and I did the basement last summer. Not sure what I want to tackle next. LOL!

I couldn't imagine only do one part of the house at one time...then again it's only me and my little ones and really my house isn't all that big. Just the main floor, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and the basement.

My basement still has stuff in it that I don't "need" but most of it is spoken for and if not I plan on selling it.

I haven't set up my basement completely the way I want it yet because I'm storing furniture for a friend who's waiting to move from a transition house into her own place. Otherwise I'm "ready" to do that too

I clean out closets and the garage at least 3-4 times a year. I'm one of those people who is very organized and I can't stand it if there is a bunch of stuff that no one really uses cluttering up my closets! I donate a lot, and often have a 'bag going' of clothes to donate. I just started a new one recently that sits in my closet. Then I have the bag ready to add anything new to. I also keep a plastic tote in Natalie's room where I regularly pull out clothes that she's outgrown. When it's full it goes in the attic. (Labeled and all!) Places like California Closets and oh...I can't think of the name of it, but it's an organziation store, are like HEAVEN to me!!
My DH is a pack rat so I really keep him on his toes and take the initiative to throw things out.

I do it about once monthly. Not on a schedule but that seems to be about how often i've been doing it. I think it's because there's a lot I want to get rid of before the baby comes so it doesn't clutter. On a regular basis, I do it maybe once every 3-4 months.
