Bath Fizzies
My daughter wants to make these for her whole class. They are that ball shape that you put in the bathtub and they fizz. I found a recipe to make them, but can not find citric acid. Has anyone made these before?
I made them when I got married to hand out to guests. I had to get the pharmacy to special order it and it was expensive. You can try doing a search on line and order it from a place that sells things for making soaps and bath products. Or what about Michaels? Do you want it before Christmas? You'll need a mould as well.
This is the recipe that I am making http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/bathbombs.html#instructions Sorry, don't know how to post a link. Anyhow, I tried micheals and many different drug stores. What a pain! My daughter has her heart set on making these!
You can substitute critic acid with tartaric acid. You can try calling the pharmacy and asking for tartaric acid just replace it your recipe, use the same amount. You need to speak to a pharmacist though. Apparently tartaric acid is cream of tartar, here is a link to "Lush", they make bath bombs and have included an ingredient list. I don't know that it will work and you will need to buy a lot of cream of tartar, you are better off trying to get critic or tartaric acid, you really need these ingredients as that's what makes the frizz. I am not sure if you know this or not, but you can buy these quite cheap at WalMart. She might want the fun of making them, but, if the ingredents are that expensive and you can't find them, they are cheap in the stores!
