Arghhhh...inlaws!
This is more of a vent than anything. Inlaws seem to be causing stress lately My inlaws and I don't really get along. No major fights or anything. We tolerate each other. I know they just hate buying me a Christmas gift and do so only because I am married to their son. They always shop from the catelog so they don't have to pay shipping charges. They have already told me that they TRIED and TRIED to get me pjs but they were sold out so they got me a sweater instead. Isn't part of the fun...not knowing what you are getting??? You could just tell they hated having to shop for me at all. I've told dh to tell them to just not buy me a gift but he refuses to do that. Now, I have everything wrapped and ready to go. The problem is, their gifts have not arrived yet. This means I still have to wrap my own gift from them as well as the gifts for the children. They have already sent DH's gift. I hate waiting to the last minute when I'm busy with other things to wrap gifts. Okay...done venting now
They don't wrap their gifts?! How odd. Why bother wrapping their gift to you, especially if you already know what it is?! What's the point? In your case, I would only wrap the gifts for the kids. {{{HUGS}}}
Um, I hate to say this as I am the Mother of 3 boys and may turn out looney before its all said and done and have dil's that hate me... But I find it VERY ODD as well that they dont wrap their own gifts. Actually I think thats pretty silly. Or just lazy? Cheap? I dont know. argh! What is it with in-laws????????????? Why are they so wierd? Vent away. I went off in another post about my mil and my dh...
Oh and ditto the dont bother buying a gift!! lol Have they heard of gift cards or how about cash? heehee Why dont they buy a family gift or something. I really pray I dont act like this one day to my dil's.
In defense of the wrapping issue...(LOL) When my mom orders stuff on-line she always ships it straight to me and doesn't pay for wrapping since it is very expensive to have them do it. I always wrap birthday presents for her because of this as well. However, if it's for me, she does pay for wrapping. Wrapping your own gift is just plain silly! Then again, so is telling you what it is she got you!
I ohhhhhh sooooooo second this who in-law thing. Not only are we wrapping my present from the in-laws but my DH has to go to the store tonight to pick it up. Grrrrrrrrr!
Melanie, sometimes my parents do that (order online, ship directly to me and then I wrap their gifts) but we work it out ahead of time and I'm perfectly fine it. That happens if my parents can't find specific gifts in their area. Usually they will send their gifts already wrapped and we do likewise.
LOL..i could have written this post. My sMIL called yesterday, moaning about just starting shopping yesterday (they just moved and have been busy) and not finding anything. Said she as probably just going to give cash to the kids that she can't find what they want, and then said, I did find this for so and so and this for so and so, and those dishes for you..LOL
It's the whole cheap thing. They don't want to be bothered buying something locally, wrapping it and then having to pay the postage to mail the parcel to us. DH has a birthday tomorrow. They sent him a birthday card with a gift card and his Christmas gift came through the catelog. Of course, we have to pick it up. Right now it's under the tree in the gray bag it came in. We actually shopped for their presents, put time in to it and got them something we thought they might like. Then I wrapped them, complete with ribbons and bows and mailed them off. We got his dad a grinder so it isn't light and cost quite a bit to mail out but DH thought he would like it. The worse is that DH thinks all this is perfectly normal!
Trust me I understand. I always get a check. Everyone else gets thoughtful gifts--me a check. It is another slap in the face. Their way of showing me they cannot be bothered with shopping for me. ((((HUGS))))
A check? Oh my! The least they could do is make it a gift card! Wow, unbelievable!
