Advent Calendar Mishap! LOL
We "had" an advent calendar with chocolate in it to count down the days to Christmas. I discovered just a few minutes ago there is only 1 chocolate left sooooooooo I gather them all together and ask who ate them, both boys said "I didn't" and my 6 year old says "I might have forgotten...." so I look at her and say "Did you eat them?" She says "yes" and tears up a bit. So I say Why did you eat them? She said "They're soooooooo yummy!" Awwwwwwwwwww so how do you give someone heck for that? LOL! I told her how proud I am that she told the truth and from now on that she has to ASK before just eating things because to take them without asking if it's ok is dishonest. Anyway I wanted to share cause I thought it was cute lol
Awww, poor kid. I'm sure she knows it was wrong, now!
yeah she does...it was just soooo I felt awful when she started to cry and there was no actual punishment involved because she was honest
*cute
Awwwww... How cute! I wouldn't have punished her either. There is no way we could have an Advent calendar with chocolates in my house. DD and I wouldn't be able to wait and would have to eat them! LOL! We have a felt Advent calendar that has a little star that moves along as each day passes. I saw one awhile back that I wish I had purchased. It was felt and had a Christmas tree with velcro tabs all over it. Underneath was the calendar with little pockets, each holding an ornament to velcro to the Christmas tree.
We have an advent calendar made from fabric with pockets in it. This year I purchased a set of 20 books for my students. After I saw how great the books were I decided that next year I will purchase a set for dd and ds. It will cost about $40 for the two sets but hey..they're books! Then I thought I would wrap them and place a number on them. I think I will put a number in each pocket and each day as we wait for Christmas, we will get to open a new book. I thought about sharing one book set but they are at very different reading levels.
So cute. It is very important to reward them for telling the truth, especially at this age. They so want to please you that they'll say anything not to get you upset. Great job! Ame
I used to have a fabric one but when my husband and I split up he kept it. It had a little mouse that you moved with each day that passed. I'll have to try to find another one, but I've never seen them in stores when I'm there.
It sounds like Trina and I have the same Advent calendar. We've tried the chocolate ones before and it was such a temptation that we decided not to do one of those again. I simply don't have the willpower and neither do a couple of my kids!
How cute...don't you just want to eat them too? LOL BTW, have you started on the Hershey Kiss I gave you?? I used to freeze mine and make them last longer. LOL
I froze it so it lasts longer! LOL! I ate a bit though it's yummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I do want to just eat them up sometimes they're so adorable!
This is the first year that I can recall that I didn't have a chocolate advent calendar. My children have never eaten the whole thing. That is too funny! My favorite calendar is one we made ourselves. We made little packets (stamped, think sourcream packets) and numbered and punched holes and tied them to a long string. In each one was a hershey's kiss for each of us and a Bible reference. Each night we would light our advent candle, eat our chocolate and read the Christmas story. It was very nice. It is also the first year I really worried about someone getting in to them (or the dog..lol)
To cute... That is surly one to remember for the future..
Very cute, and how can you scold her for being truthful? LOL
Exactly! She was honest and you sure can't scold for that ;) Maybe her brothers learned a lesson from hearing her be completely honest and not get in trouble lolol (like "we can sneak chocolate as long as we tell mom the truth that we did it")
