A really nice neighborhood tradition.
I spent the afternoon and evening with my granddaughter and her parents today. My dear dil told me that there is a "tradition" in her neighborhood that the other families nearby take turns bringing dinner to the parents of a new baby for the first two weeks. I put "tradition" in quotes because the whole development is only about 3 years old, but I gather that one woman brought the idea up at an early Holiday party and a lot of others bought into it and are making it a "tradition". (We had chicken cutlets with stuffing and peas and corn for dinner.)
Sounds like a nice dinner. And what a wonderful "tradition". I wish I had some one volunteer to bring me food for even a few days after my kids where born, both of them , especially with my son, my daughter grew tired of micro wave and heat and serve foods quickly. I'm also glad for you and your granddaughter that you are able to spend so much time with her. She will remember and cherish this time as she gets older.
Well that's a great idea = ) i'm sure it's helping her out nicely ...I'm so glad you got to see you granddaughter yesterday also.Any pictures perhaps? = )
A wonderful, and I am sure, MUCH appreciated tradition! We'd all be lucky if more neighborhoods were like that.
My church does that. The ladies take turns and will bring dinners for two weeks when there is a new baby, a death or a serious illness in the family. It is a great outreach. Glad you enjoyed your dinner. Ame
