What is your favorite love song?
I'm making a CD and have 21 already, but really would love to hear other ideas. Plus, it might be fun! What's your favorite love song?
"unanswered prayers" by garth brooks "love without end"
One that comes to mind is 'For You' by John Denver.
"Keeper of the Stars" by Tracey Byrd
Guess I should put one of my favorites... "Annie's Song" by John Denver Kaye - LOVE "Unanswered Prayers", too!
Tin Cup Challis- Jimmy Buffet- not traditional but I love it- it was our wedding song!~
"Wonderful Tonight" Eric Clapton My all-time favorite: "The Things We Do For Love" by 10CC (anyone remember them? LOL)
"Every Way She Moves" by James Taylor
slo dancing by conway twitty
Take my Breath Away ~ not sure who sings it but it was in Top Gun Keeper of the Stars~ by Tracey Bird was our wedding song!
Nobody but Me by Blake Shelton
"We Will Dance," and "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman.
Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss A Thing Lol! I'm sure I could name a ton more but that's the first one I thought of. It's one of the first songs my boyfriend ever "gave" me.
I can't remember the name but I love this song. Alison Krause and Randy Travis have both sung it. I think it may be called When you say nothing at all? Maybe? If someone knows let me know.
I think it was actually Keith Whitley who also sang it, but yes, it is called "When You say nothing at all". One of my favorite songs, Alison's version, that is. Shania Twain "From this moment" That is the song that I walked down the aisle to in my wedding. It has tremondous meaning to my husband and me. I also like a very untraditional one by Alannis Morrisette called "Head Over Feet". That is my husband's and my fell in love song. It was so true for us because we accidentally fell in love with no intentions of that kind of relationship.
Hysteria Def Leppard. my all time fav
Juliet - Dire Straits And from the greatest Italian rockstar Vasco Rossi: "Brava". But there are so many...
I hear you Adena...my boyfriend and I never meant to be in that kind of relationship either..It just happened!
Nothing's Gonna Change my Love for you...Glenn Maderos and I really love "The Heart Will Go on" not sure if that's the title, but it's from the movie Titanic.
"Let's get it on" Marvin Gaye "Ain't nobody love me better" Chaka Khan You see where my mind is at, hehe!
Oh, one more... "when doves cry" by prince. That whole CD is excellent.
Oh ditto Shellyg - love old Prince!
Adena, that is "our" song! I didn't post it because I thought it was such a strange love song. Our other songs are "1000 Miles" by the Pretenders and "Dreams" by the Cranberries. Sunny, I love that Eric Clapton song.
Well, I hesitated posting it because I wasn't sure anyone else would even know the song! It just fits us perfectly. I had come out of an awful relationship and had known my husband in HS, and was actually friends with his sister who is my age, and worked with him (mostly on different shifts), but we never really even talked. It's so strange how things work out in their own time just how they are meant to be! I remember watching him joking around with a couple other employees and I thought "I'd like to be friends with him. He looks like a lot of fun." And look at us now! And to think...it all started over a Santa hat... and that's a whole 'nother story!
Words to Head over Feet I had no choice but to hear you You stated your case time and again I thought about it You treat me like I'm a princess I'm not used to liking that You ask how my day was Chorus: You've already won me over in spite of me Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are I couldn't help it It's all your fault Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole You're so much braver than I gave you credit for That's not lip service Repeat Chorus You are the bearer of unconditional things You held your breath and the door for me Thanks for your patience You're the best listener that I've ever met You're my best friend Best friend with benefits What took me so long I've never felt this healthy before I've never wanted something rational I am aware now I am aware now Repeat Chorus
"Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden. It was my wedding song. Ame I'll be your dream I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy. I'll be your hope I'll be your love Be everything that you need. I love you more with every breath Truly madly deeply do.. I will be strong I will be faithful 'Cos I'm counting on a new beginning. A reason for living. A deeper meaning. Chorus I want to stand with you on a mountain. I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me... Verse 2 And when the stars are shining brightly In the velvet sky, I'll make a wish Send it to heaven Then make you want to cry.. The tears of joy For all the pleasure and the certainty. That we're surrounded By the comfort and protection of.. The highest power. In lonely hours. The tears devour you.. I want to stand with you on a mountain, I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever, Until the sky falls down on me... Bridge Oh can't you see it baby? You don't have to close your eyes 'Cos it's standing right before you. All that you need will surely come... I'll be your dream I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy. I'll be your hope I'll be your love Be everything that you need. I'll love you more with every breath Truly madly deeply do...
Unchained Melody by the Rightous Brothers Wind Beneath my Wings-Bette Midler When You Say Nothing At All-I like Alison Kruas' version as well. She has the voice of an angel.
Thank you thank you thank you Ame!!! I LOVE that song, and had forgotten about it. I love Savage Garden.
I also love "In Your Eyes", but I can't remember who it's by. ...In your eyes, the light the heat, in your eyes, I am complete, in your eyes, I see the doorway to a thousand churches..." Know which one I mean? I LOVE the line about "resolution, to all the .....less searching" and "in your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches"
In your eyes is Peter Gabriel and I really like that song!!! Great choice! My favorite is "I Love You" by Climaxx Blues Band
You're welcome. It was really nice to find it and read the words again. BTW - I LOVE Head Over Feet. It's such a "real" love song. Ame
"When You Say Nothing At All" Keith Whitley "Broken Road" Rascal Flatts
ANYTHING Rascal Flatts.. those boys can sure sing to a girls heart. Lonestar "Amazed" and "I'm Already There" Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" Leann Rimes "How Do I Live?" Steve Holy "Good Morning Beautiful" (Shhh... DH sings it to me) Celine Dion "Because You Loved Me" Kelly Clarkson "A Moment Like This" Mariah Carey "Against All Odds" I could type and type but those are the ones off the top of my head.
Peter Gabriel!!! You're right Ame, I forgot! Thanks! "Stuck on You" - Lionel Richie "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" -Rod Stewart
Alan Jackson "I'll Go On Loving You" Bad English "When I See You Smile" James Blunt "You're Beautiful" (from my bf) Julian Austin "Forever Loving You" Lifehouse "You and Me" Tim Mcgraw "My Best Friend" I looked through the playlist I have on my pc Those are the ones that caught my eye out of the list...
I am not the best at pulling song titles from memory but I read these and keep thinking "Oh, I love that song!" So...I love that James Blunt song, Catherin, and no one ever knows which song I'm talking about. I also love "When I See You Smile". I haven't heard that song in the longest time. I also like the Allison Krause song that so many of you brought up. Does anyone know a country love song that has a chorus that says "I want to be loved like that"? I have no idea who it's by or the rest of the song but it always brings tears to my eyes.
Tink, would that be by Shenandoah "I Wanna Be Loved Like That"? Kind of an older song? Natalie Wood gave her heart to James Dean The high school rebel and the teenage queen Standin together in an angry world One boy fightin for one girl (Chorus) I wanna be loved like that, I wanna be loved like that A promise you can't take back If you're gonna love me I wanna be loved like that Daddy never gave Momma a diamond ring But Momma never wanted for anything But what he gave her it came from the heart In a bond that was never torn apart (Repeat Chorus) An old man kneeling all alone Plants his flowers in a garden of stone For seven years now she's been gone And his devotion is still goin strong I wanna be loved like that, I wanna be loved like that A promise you can't take back If you're gonna love me (Repeat Chorus)
That's it. Thanks. I only listened to country for a year or so in high school but that song has really stuck with me.
"The Gift" by Jim Brickman, and I can't tell you who sings it. My dh and I got married in December, and it always makes me think of that time. *sigh* Coming up on 14 years!!
PS...I've also always loved Barry Manilow's "Could This Be the Magic." (OK, go ahead and laugh, all you youngsters... but I like Barry!) And Angel... I also love "I Love You" by Climax! Never knew anyone else did!
Tink! Almost everyone I know (online friends) know that song! and now you know someone who knows it too
I LOVE Barry Manilow (and I'm pretty young) His song "When will I hold you again" is great!
Janet Martina Mcbride did a version of that song the gift with Jim Brickman. I'm not sure if that's the original one though. Geez! I really have to learn to put all my posts in one lol
I love "Valentine" by Martina McBride. Dh and I danced to that at our wedding...sniff,sniff. I also really like "I Love You" by Climax...I had totally forgotten that song!!!
"The Rose".it was recorded by many people, but one of the latest was Bette Midler.
"This Guy's In Love With You" by Herb Alpert. (You young ones are going, "WHO"?) It was our wedding son in 1968. My oldest son's wedding song was "I Do" by Paul Brandt, in 1996. I like "Just Look at Us" by Vince Gill(?) a good anniversary song.
Janet, I am going to *come out* and admit that I too, like Barry Manilow and Climax! Say what you must, but Barry Manilow has written some of the best love songs. My friend made such fun of me when I was buying a boxed set of Barry Manilow CDs at Sams. She was shocked too, because I listen to stuff like Aerosmith, AC/DC, Metallica, normally. She told me she never figured me for *that* type. But hey, I listen to all types of music and can appreciate the differences in them. I also love Michael Bolton and Kenny G too, and have Wilson Philips CD's and on the opposite end of the spectrum, Queensryche CD's too.
I like Barry Manilow and Climaxx, too!!! Have all the Kenny G cd's, too....
