Who went shopping today???
I did, I did! I had planned to go early in the first place, and I woke up around 3:30 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I left home @ 6:30 and thought *I* was getting an early start. HA! I was talking to a group of ladies when I was out, and one of them had been shopping since MIDNIGHT! She said she went home @ 3:00 AM to pick up her mother and went right back out. Apparently they were SERIOUS bargain hunters, and it paid off nicely for them. But surprisingly, there was no traffic and the only place I encountered a crowd or a wait was in Victoria's Secret, and I think that's because there was a free gift promo going on (and honestly, that was the only reason I went there too!) I mainly went out just because I like to be out on this particular day. But the malls that are open are still not 100% open, and there's a lot less people here shopping now. I walked in Dillard's one minute after they opened @ 7:00 AM, waited in line for 30 minutes in Victoria's Secret, did the rest of what I wanted to do, stopped @ Sams, and was home @ 11:00. I just got up from a nap too. LOL
Oh yeah! I have not missed a Black Friday in years! I however, not crazy enough to go to Walmart! LOL!
Nope!
I was in bed.. Glad you had fun..
This is the first time I've ever done the early a.m. thing. Left out at 5:45 am with 2 girlfriends. They are shopping nuts and probably spent $500 a piece even with the good deals. I spent less than a $100 but I had fun. They are nuts and that was a blast.
No I didn't but got alot of good bargains online in my PJ's...LOL I would love to get out and shop on Black Friday, but I HATE crowds! DS Tom wanted to go this afternoon and I said no way! Karen sounds like you had an enjoyable morning
ROFL Pam! No way for me!!
I had to work from noon til 7:30pm and then went out to eat with the family, around 8:30pm. Now, it's 10:00 and I just checking message boards and stuff. I didn't have time to go shopping.

I went out with my cousin at around 3 yesterday afternoon..lol Of course, I only went to Old Navy and got quite a few things at a great deal..I was not about to go to Wal-mart..lol It was not too crowded, suprisingly, so I was pleased!
My DIL and I went out at 7. It was crowded, but wasn't bad at all. We hit Michael's, Kohls, Target, Penney's, Bed Bath and Beyond and Joanne's Fabrics. We found lots of great bargains. My DIL is a POWER SHOPPER. The guys went to the computer and electronics stores. Nichole went to a fun day at Gymkanna.
NOT ME! I'll do my shopping online and at 24-hour Meijer, thank-you! I guess it's just a matter of preferences. I prefer to shop in peace rather than rush from store fighting traffic on the roads and people in the stores. Besides, the weather here was bad. http://www.woodtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=4164781 Trampled shoppers released from the hospital (UPDATE, Cascade Township, November 25, 2005, 7:00 p.m.) It was a dangerous morning on Black Friday at a West Michigan Wal-Mart. Now, corporate representatives are responding to what happened. An impatient crowd stormed the doors in the mad rush to get to those door-buster deals inside. It was an ugly scene when the doors opened at the Cascade Township Wal-Mart. Hundreds of shoppers pushed and shoved their way into the store, trampling a number of customers, sending two to the hospital. At 5:00 a.m. the doors opened, holiday shoppers rushed in, and immediately one customer is pushed to the ground. "This is ridiculous. I do not want my life in danger for this," said shopper Karen Dietstra. "This is not worth it. This has been a tradition for years. I don't think that I have to get beat up to try to get a sale." Two shoppers from Grand Rapids did. One of them, 13-year-old Deja McHerron, had to be taken away by ambulance. "They stumbled over a pregnant lady and Deja was trying to help her get up. And they stumbled over her and they stepped on her back. And now she's going to the hospital," said McHerron's mother, Deborah. Duretha Arnold-Youngblood, 37, was also taken to the hospital, complaining of an injured knee. Both were released from the hospital after being treated. "It was really terrifying. If my husband wasn't there to cover me, I would not be home. Those people would have stepped on my back. They didn't care. It was bad," Arnold-Youngblood said. Her husband, Johnny Youngblood, took issue with what he calls a lack of security. Youngblood believes Wal-Mart should hire trained uniformed security guards to help bring order to the early-morning holiday crowd and not leave those duties to Wal-Mart associates. "They didn't have no security at all," said McHerron's sister, Sierra. "Wal-Mart did not do enough to protect us," Dietstra said. WalMart corporate spokesperson Marty Heires tells 24 Hour News 8 that the incident is regrettable. Heires says that of the 3800 Walmart stores nationwide, there's trouble at only a handful of them during after-Thanksgiving shopping. The spokesperson stressed such problems are rare, but that some stores do hire extra security for crowd control. He did not know if that was the case in Cascade Township. He did say there was staff outside directing the crowds and that next week managers will debrief the situation and assess if they could make changes to prevent it from happening again. 24 Hour News 8 wanted to explore what measures other retailers take as well. A Meijer spokesperson says the day after Thanksgiving, they add extra sales staff but not additional security. Even with those early hour sales incentives, Meijer doesn't see those big crowds line up at closed doors because their doors are open 24 hours a day. Managers at Best Buy tell us they began preparing for this day a week ahead. They plan where to put sale items, rope off space for lines, and assigning staff to mix with the early morning crowd an hour before doors open. They hand out coffee and doughnuts and tickets for popular items to reduce the urgency for shoppers. "They're preselling things so you can get things you want now, so you're not so stressed out about being first in line. It controls the crowds. They know they have their items so they don't have to push and shove. They're directed where they need to be and it all flows very smoothly," Best Buy manager Bob Rose said.
Good grief! What turns people into such animals. That is why I don't want to be there so early in the morning. People are out for blood!
I heard about all of that. Dawn, people ARE animals! One year I went shopping the day after Christmas with my friend. The people were standing outside of Macy's in the mall and when the doors opened, they went in like a herd of cattle. Not only that, we saw 2 women actually fighting over a Christmas item on clearance, and we saw the artificial trees swaying back and forth and one fell because people were grabbing at the ornaments, etc. still on them. It never ceases to amaze me. I saw the video on TV of those shoppers that were trampled.
I went shopping and had the best time. I learned a long time ago stay out of walmart. I went to kohls and everyone was so nice. I also went to a make up place and got some great deals. One of the things I bought were these make up cases for my teenagers, they were silver boxes full of great quality make up, normally 25 dollar value for 10 dollars. It is clinque make up I think, VERY COOL! I also went to the Christian book store, bought an adventure Bible for 10 dollars and a Chronicle's of Narnia CD for 5. I also bought several 20Q for 9 dollars, which isn't a great deal, but took several people off my shopping list
I went shopping today and got five lovely little PINK outfits for my new granddaughter. I have never been able to buy pink before, having 3 sons, and it is a treat. Only for a granddaughter would I go shopping on Thanksgiving weekend. (I also got some of her perfume for my dil.)
Oh Ginny! You are so cute with this granddaughter thing. I think shey may be spoiled with love! Congratulations again and again!
