Recipe help; anybody read woman's day?
I know I should be posting this on the recipe board, but I'm looking for a recipe ASAP. German Chocolate Torte, to be exact. It was in a women's magazine, I think Woman's Day or Family Circle from the past month or so. It's made with a brownie mix. Anybody read these magazines and recall seeing it? I lost my copy and was planning on making it for Thanksgiving. Thanks in advance.
I can't help you with the recipe, but did you try searching those magazines online? Sometimes they have things from the magazine posted there too?? Might be worth a shot!
http://www.womansday.com/default.asp?section_id=2 I hope this link works. I kinda browsed around for the recipe but didn't see it on the woman's day site but maybe I just missed it. I looked through the chocolate recipes I could find at family circle (189) and didn't see a german chocolate torte although it did list a pecan chocolate torte...
German Brownie Torte ~ Woman's Day 1 1/2 cups (5oz) sweetened flaked coconut 1 1/2 cups (6 oz) chopped pecans 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 1/2 stick (4 tbsp) butter, melted 1 box (21oz) Family-Style Chewy Fudge Brownies mix 2 cups heavy (whipping) cream 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar 1. Heat oven to 350 F. Line a 15x10 inch rimmed baking sheet with heavy duty foil, letting foil extend above the pan on both ends. Coat foil with nonstick spray. 2. Mix coconut, pecans, brown sugar and butter in a bowl until well blended; set aside. 3. Prepare brownie mix as package directs for cake like brownies. Pour batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly. Top with coconut mixture. 4. Bake 25 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. 5. Lift foil by ends onto a cutting board. Cut brownie crosswise in thirds. Beat cream and confectioners' sugar in a bowl with mixer on medium-high spread until moist, stiff peaks form when beaters are lifted. 6. To assemble: Place 1 brownie layer, nut side up, on a serving platter. Spread top with 1 cup whipped cream. Repeat with remaiing layers and cream, ending with cake. Frost sides with remaining cream. Regrigerate at least 2 hours. 7. To serve: Cut with serrated knife in 1-inch slices; cut each slice in half. There is a photo, let me know if you want me to scan it in so you can see how it looks assembled. You know I never buy this magazine my mom bought and left it here a over a month ago. The only reason I remembered the recipe is that it calls for brownies, there is a brownie cheesecake in here that I am dying to make. Hope it works out for you!
Thank you sooo much!
