Board Game Recommendations needed (for Grown Ups)
I'm in the market for some new board games for the Holidays. My family always plays and it's SO much fun. My favorites are Uno Attack and Boggle and I also enjoy Cranium, where you make something out of clay and then have to answer multiple choice or spell something.(Something for everyone) We used to love Pictionary, but haven't played in years. Are there any other fun games that you enjoy? I'm looking for something fun!
I still like the old faithful Trivial Pursuit. Apples to Apples is supposed to be really good but I've never played. If you haven't played Pictionary in years, drag it back out! That's so much fun! Even Monopoly can be fun again. Last year I asked a similar question and got lots of responses. You could do a search on it, either under my name or under board games I would think. I know it was on this general discussion board. HTH!
I was going to say Cranium, but i see you have that one. It is my favorite. Pictionary is also a favorite of mine. We have a lot of fun playing Monopoly (my dh's a riot with that one!) Scattergories is fun. In that one you have a die with most of the letters of the alphabet on it. You roll the die to see what letter you get. Then you have categories and you have to think of words that fit in that category that start with the letter you get. Write them all down before the timer beeps and see if anyone else came up with the same words as you. It gets fun if you have a bunch of hams in your group!
Scattegories is fun! I just played a game called "The Ungame". It has alot of truly "get to know you" questions. Not really a kids game though. I just bought Perquacky. We used to play it all the time as a family when I was growing up, I have good memories of that one. I also love Yahtzee. Can you tell I like board games?
I love Cranium. We usually play it on New Year's Eve, while waiting for midnight to come, after supper! Pictionary is fun, too, but my girlfriend always wins! LOL! My kids also love playing Guesstures on New Year's Eve! I know we laugh a lot. It's like charades under pressure, since you are timed. I also like Chicken Soup for the Soul and Therapy. Both games have you answering a lot of questions, either multiple choice, about yourself, or trying to guess what someone else might like.
Oh, 'Taboo' was recommended to me, also.
I like Sequence
How about Monopoly? They have different editions now: Star Wars, Disney Princess, Shrek, Peanuts, Toy Story, LOTR,...
I like taboo, yahtzee is one of my all time favorite. We played Battle of the Sexes at a friends house and that was fun.
Taboo is fun and ditto on the old faithful Trivial Pursuit.
A few fun card games are Phase 10 and Skip Bo. Both a ton of fun!
We are a big game family too. Cranium used to be our favorite, but now sequence has trumped it. It is a connect 5 game, matching cards, but you can play it with up to 12 people, or as few as 2.
Do you have Balderdash? We LOVE that game. Here's a link for a description: Balderdash
Catch Phrase is fun too, it is like Taboo but you don't get a list of words that you can not say. You've got to be pretty creative for Balderdash! It is fun though.
Yahtzee is one of my favorites...can't play it anymore because Dylan decided to hide all the dice. LOL I have Balderdash but I have never played it...heard it was really fun.
Thanks for the ideas! I'll have to go check some of these out. I like SkipBo too. I forgot about Yahtzee--I used to enjoy that. I'm not a big Monopoly fan--I've never been able to finish a game. I like something more fast paced. Battle of the Sexes--I think I've played and it was fun. Is that where the men try to answer questions that has to do with woman and the woman answer questions about typical male stuff. That was a good one if that's what I am thinking.
