A Seven Hour Funeral
Not that I don't think she is deserving, because Rosa Parks was an awesome person. Just getting that in. In other words- I am totally not being disrespectful here. Can you imagine? Seven hours. I wonder if they had an intermission?
I heard that on the news last night. I think that's the longest funeral I've ever heard of.
I work about 10 miles from the Church this took place in, it is HUGE, and holds about 4000 people. They had the steets around it shut down and traffic was terrible. It actually lasted about 10 hours if you count the procession to the cemetery and they didn't get there until around 8:30 pm and had to bring in lighting so people could see, they released white doves and people were cheering. Was it televised in other states also? I kept wondering how long it would last with so many people speaking. The actual bus has been restored and housed in the Henry Ford Museum. You're right that she was an awesome person and she was liked by so many. May she rest in peace!!!!!!!
I have 3 words to say here and it might explain it: Reverend Jesse Jackson What a great lady though...has my admiration through and through...
DH and I were at the Volkswagon dealership for some minor service on the Passat. In the waiting room, they had CNN on, so I saw a little bit of the funeral. 7 hours? I hope they had one heck of a funeral dinner after that was all over? No way could I sit that long without having to go to the bathroom!
Heidi, too funny!
