Leftover Candy... any ideas?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive November 2005: Leftover Candy... any ideas?

Hi there-

We have a bunch of leftover candy - and I'm trying to come up with a good idea of what to do w/ it. My dh works from home - so there is no office to take it to. I thought it would be cool to give it to some group of people that would really appreciate it. Ideas?

thanks.

Do you have a womens shelter or an orphanage near you, these type of places where you know there will be children are good and I'm sure they would appreciate it.

Send it to school, the teachers will put it in their treasure boxes.

I'm dealing with the same thing. I'll probably send some to school with Randy and take some to church for my pre-teen class. Randy and I both have doctor's appointments today--I guess we could take some there, too. :)

I'm sending mine with Chris tomorrow for him to take to work.

I ususally freeze it and use it for the next year.

I'm sending some of it in my operation Christmas Child boxes. I have 3 to fill, so I always put a baggie of candy in each. That still leaves lots, but it'll be eaten. :o)

Our school sent home a notice that they're collecting leftover canada to give to a charity here so that's what I'm doing with the leftovers this year. I didn't buy chocolate I bought licorice and the like.

I'm not afraid to throw it in the trash! lol

I'm with you, Conni--I toss it out. Especially now--I so do not need any candy. I look at it and I gain more weight. LOL:)

Thanks for all the ideas -

I'm thinking of sending over to troops in Iraq - I have about 7lbs of hard candy. There is a cool site anysoldier.com - and many troops request candy. I think the hard candy would make it ok. It will cost some $$ to ship it - but at least I know it would be appreciated.

I way overbought because we live in a new neighborhood and everyone who lived here last Halloween told me it would be super - busy. Not so! Of course, right before our street they were pouring the foundation on a new house - there must have been 6-7 cement trucks there - I think a lot of folks turned around before hitting our street.

Thanks again!!!!

I was talking to my trainer at the gym today and told her I can't seem to stop eating the halloween candy....I have NO SELF CONTROLL!!! LOL

She said she used to pack it up in baggies and hand it out to the homeless. They loved it and she got it out of the house. tThe only candy she would keep was the stuff she didn't like so the kids still had treats.
I think I am going to end up doing this, I ate 3 snickers today.
