Cell phones
We have a few old cell phones (about 4-6 years old) that we were wanting to get rid of. Anyone know where we can take them to get recycled or reused? We really don't want to throw them out if someone can get good use out of them. Thanks.
I know battered women's shelters give them to the women so they can call 911 on them if necessary.
Yes, battered women's shelters are usually in demand of old cell phones. It allows the women to be safe no matter where they are as old cells will still call 911. Just be sure to remove all of your personal information from the sim card.
our mall gives u a 25 dollar gift certificate if u have the charger and the phone in a ziploc bag together. they then donate them to women shelters and elderly for emergencies
Here's a link to The Wireless Foundation, which has a "Call to Protect" program, for donating unwanted cell phones to battered women's programs. http://www.wirelessfoundation.org/CallToProtect/index.cfm If you go into FAQs, there are links to lists of dropoff points and local community programs.
We have the charger and all the extras for each phone. Jewlz, I'm in CA too. Where is it that you drop them off?
its at our mall "valley plaza mall". its in bakersfield. id just call ur malls, the general info line, and see if they have the same program going on.
You can take them in to any Verizon Wireless store and put them in a container. They give them to Battered Women's centers, too. Also, in Tennessee if you have to go into an emissions testing center, they will give anybody a postage paid envelope to put an old phone in and mail it some place for the battered women's centers. It was time for tags for both of our vehicles and I was given envelopes both times at emissions places.

Thanks, ladies!
