What is your wierdest quirk or habit???
Mine is when I am eating dinner, I take a bite of everything that we're having before I chew, I've done this ever since I can remember and dh teases me if say for instance I run out of peas and I don't have enough left over to finish my bites!!! Oh and recently since I've always had trouble clearing all the clutter out of my mind so that I may fall asleep I had read in a magazine that another reader had written in that she goes through the alphabet and names every thing that she can think of that starts with the letter A, then B and so on. I am usually asleep before I get to letter D... So now that I've told you all my quirky habits don't let me be the only one!!!! I'm sure there are others!!!! Lets spill it!!!
I do the same thing with the alphabet if I can't fall asleep; except I usually choose a category like animals, foods, adjectives, verbs, etc. It works for me! LOL I like to eat candy/nuts in even numbers. If I have three m&ms, I have to eat a fourth. Perhaps, just perhaps; a little OCD !?! lol
I never drink a glass to empty, I leave about an inch of whatever drink I had in the cup and dump it down the sink. I have NO IDEA when or how this started. (This drives my DH up the walls and my mother has complained about it since I was a kid.) I never return the caps to anything or if I do they aren't screwed on right. Toothpaste, coke, you name it.....Boy that is pretty annoying.
annie2 I do the same thing but usually items from a grocery store, it does work doesn't it!!
Kelly, that's a favorite of mine, too! LOL
I eat my m-n-m's in order by color. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, then brown. There has to be equal numbers of them, too. So if I grab a handfull, I'll count and if there's 5 of some colors and only 3 of the one with the least I'll eat the ones with more so they're all equal. Also, if I'm eating trail mix (make my own with peanuts or cashews, m-n-m's and raisins) I have to have one of each thing and eat them at the same time. Gotta even out the flavor! lol Oh, I have so many little more. Can't even think of them all. I'm sure dh could think of quite a few! rofl
This is so much fun, I thought I was the only "werido" out there!!! lol... I have my kids doing the dinner thing....!
I have to have one bite of each food at the end of a meal, that I don't eat. I also eat my M&M's by color but most of my quirks aren't food related. I can't sleep with my feet covered, no socks, sheets or blankets and then I rub my feet together. I am a first class fidgeter. I'm always flipping something around to keep my hands busy or doodling. I still don't walk on the "cracks" in a sidewalk, if I can help it. And I compulsively count things. I've got a million of these things. Jeez, OCD much???
I sleep on my right side with my right arm under my head if I'm napping, but I have to sleep of my left side with my arms grabbing the covers if I'm going to sleep for the night. I must also be on the right side of the bed. I love to pop zits. The toilet paper has to hang over, not under. I play with my earrings when I'm nervous. I could go on...
My biggest thing: I have to sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees. I cannot stand for my knees to be touching. I can only sleep in a t-shirt and panties. I can only wear socks when I must with winter shoes. I NEVER wear socks or shoes in the house. My feet are always up in the chair. Never dangling. I cannot stand breaking up "pairs" of things. Such as, when I was a kid, and we had ice cube trays, I would never take one and leave the other. If I took out the ice cube tray, and someone had left one lonely, I would make sure to put one beside of it. Crazy! I count things all of the time. I can't stand basic grammatical errors. When someone says "itch my back" I want to scream!!! Can't stand certain noises, especially nails on a chalkboard. Can't stand lotion on my face, or water, even though I LOVE baths and swimming and water parks. I drive my husband crazy because I have to have everything on my plate ready to eat before I will. Such as, meat cut in bites, baked potato perfectly mashed up and buttered, etc. I want to be able to sit down and eat without worrying about cutting my food while doing it. I even cut my pancakes up into bite size pieces before I'll start eating. I have to have a television on for company. I can't stand silence. I get very nervous. I can't look out windows at night. I hate the dark. I hate soap. I could go on and on and on!!!
Toilet paper and paper towels must be over not under! I have been known to flip them over at my moms house!! lol! Can't stand it when people back in to or pull through in a parking space- ridiculous I know!
I have to have back up supplies....meaning I would never have 1 shampoo in the house. I usually have at least 10 bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soaps, etc. At minimum I will have 2 of an item we use. If we are down to 1, I immediately buy a back-up. I tend to stock pile bath products more than other things. Each bathroom cabinet has bulk toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Another *weird* quirk...both bathrooms, the kitchen and theatre room have a roll of paper towels hanging. I hate hand towels--yucky germs. Needless to say--we use a lot of paper towels.
Yvonne, I am the same way with stocking things up. I always have at least one back up of everything from toothpaste to shampoo, deodorant, laundry and dish soap etc. We buy toilet paper and paper towels at Sams club and always have tons of that too. LOL I also always joke that I could open a Bath and Body shop with the stock pile of soaps and lotions etc that I have from there. My weirdest habit that I have it cleaning the kitchen counters. If I wipe them down once a day, I do it 25 times a day. Dh always jokes that I am going to rub the counters off someday. LOL As weird as I am about some things, I don't care which way the toilet paper and paper towels come off the roll. I usually put them on so they come off the back and not over the top, but if by some strange reason, (I don't think anyone else in the house knows how to change them) someone else changes it and does it the other way, I don't "have" to turn it around or anything.
Toilet paper HAS to be over the top! LOL! (no one in my house knows how to change it, either!)
Man you all ARE weirdos!!! Just kidding I can't sleep without some sort of cover on, even if it is super hot in the bed room. I have to at least have the sheets covering my feet or else i feel to exposed. I will not open my kids bedroom windows even if it is really hot inside. I'm terrified they will be taken during the night. My bed HAS to be made before i take a shower in the morning. And if i have a laundry basket of folded clothes that need to be put away, i have to first make my bed. Then put the basket on the bed and sort the clothes according to which room they go into. Then put the clothes away, THEN take a shower. Wierd, i know. I'm sure there are more of these.... also, i don't care which way the tp or paper towels hang...as long as they are hung!
Toilet paper *must* be over the top..... I will not go to bed at night with dirty dishes in the sink...... It drives me NUTS when DH hangs up shirts crooked on the hangers, because you get this stretched out *bump* in the sleeves of the clothes......... I HAVE to have hand lotion on my hands, otherwise they feel like paper, and I can't stand the way it feels.......
Vicki---I love Bath & Body stuff! I have an entire cabinet full of lotions from there (at least 20 bottles of lotion and 9 of the hand soaps) Gasp!
I wear ear plugs to bed because I because I can't stand any noise before i try and fall to sleep. I also need to put lotion of my hands right before I lay down to sleep because i can't stand the feel of my hands. I need to wear socks to bed, I can't stand my feet rubbing together so I have to wear socks, even in the hot weather...
