What we did yesterday(dog related)
I washed many dogs for many hours. I now volunteer with one of the local dog rescue groups. This is the group I adopted my last dog from. They had an event called "Bark in the Park", a doggie event they have every year. Well the city does, and all kinds of dog related organization have booths. Our group had a doggie wash for donations. I had never done anything like this. I volunteered me and my 11 yr old son. We had a blast. There were alot of volunteers, but believe me, we both were working all 5 hrs. There are alot of clean dogs around this area now. The group was asking for donations of at least 10$ for wash and nail trim or $5 FOR just nail trim. They raised 750$. I was so suprised. I mean dogs came and went all afternoon, but never realized that many. As we all know of the devastation from Hurricane Katrina. There are still alot of animals down there with no home. 2 ladies from the rescue group, are driving down to Mississippi today to spend 10 days down there helping out. They are going to be bringing back some of the dogs that they will place in foster homes and eventually be adopted out.
Jackie, you must be aching today!! It's not an easy task for me to bathe my 14 lbs dog, never mind doing that for 5 hours straight!! And cutting nails?? I feel like my hands are going to break from hanging on to her as she tries to pull away. LOL Good for you and your son!
I didnt cut the nails. There were 2 "experienced" people who were designated to do the nail trims. Im not that brave. I do my own dogs nails, but not dogs I dont know LOL
Thats great....sounds like you had a lot of fun.
