I am so angry with my gas utility company
They are doing work on the gas lines in my area, replacing metal pipes with "plastic". I was told it shouldn't make any difference to me. So, at 6:00 a.m. today, my son is taking a cold shower because we have no gas. I called PECO (the provider) at 6:30, and they came out at 9:30. Turns out someone - some unknown someone - had literally turned my gas off and locked it off at the meter, but hadn't told me and hadn't told PECO why. So, I have gas now, and can take a shower and wash my hair. After all, today is the shower for the mother of my soon-to-be grandchild. So I have to leave in about 3 hours and would much rather be clean. Not to mention that I just finished the baby blanket and booties and stuff last night and washed them, so I need to put them through the dryer. When I call PECO tomorrow I am going to be very irate, in a polite way, and will demand to speak to whoever supervises that stuff in my area.
You go, Ginny! I hate to say this, but I've learned through experience, if you are not the squeaky wheel, you don't get the grease. And yes, they probably had a number of homes affected where they turned off the gas, but in all fairness, THEY expect YOU to pay your bill for the services rendered and they expect it in a certain time frame. So YOU should expect them to restore your service in the same timely manner, as well as notifying you if they've cut your services. Let 'em have it! And PS - be sure to post about the shower!!!!!!!!
Grrrr, idiots!! I hope you enjoy the baby shower!!
Ginny just one thing after the other....right??? How was the shower???
The shower was lovely, and my gifts(crocheted blanket, sweater+cap+booties set, and some store-bought things) were well received. My dil's mother gave her the hand-made sweater and cap that Lori wore coming home from the hospital, and a crocheted blanket that had been used for Lori and her brothers, and a beautiful sort of lace (made on a spool) blanket she started when Lori was 12, plus the L.L.Bean highchair Lori had on her list. Interestingly (to me) Lori registered at Target for the baby things she wants.
Wow, talk about sensible! They have a great assortment, and I can tell you from exeperience, I will never set foot back in a Toys r Us in my life! Glad you enjoyed it and that she liked your gifts. When is her due date??
She's due in about 6 weeks. They emailed the family the address of the hospital, but I talked with Greg about it yesterday and we are agreed that Lori does NOT need a whole lot of family members present - just her husband and her mother, I think. So I will just be at the other end of the phone, waiting anxiously.
Good call on staying home and waiting Ginny! That was one of my greatest fears. I would go into labor and have all of my and DH's family there watching me deliver. I made my mom promise to keep everyone out of the room. As it ended, I had almost 12 staff there but some how that was different.
Staff are definitely different - you don't have to look them in the face for the next umpteen years.
