Does anyone have a good easy recipe for Apple Pie.
I just went to the farm here and bought some yummy apples and I would like to make a pie for DH. I am not real big on baking and would love to try and make one. I will get already prepared crust, not going that far as to make my own...LOL
TIA:)

I just made my very first apple pie two weeks ago. We have a Fuji Apple tree and more apples than you can imagine!

Here is the recipe I used but I also made it with a ready made crust. :) It was YUMMY!!!

Piecrust:
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
6 tablespoons cold water, plus 5 tablespoons cold water, as needed

Filling:
6 Jonagold apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
1 egg
Salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
To prepare the piecrust, combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Cut in the shortening with your fingers or a pastry cutter, until the pieces are the size of small peas. Sprinkle 6 tablespoons water over the flour, and gently toss with a fork. Push the flour to the sides of the bowl, add the remaining cold water, and mix until all is moistened and combined. Divide the dough in half, and form each half into balls. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate.

In a large mixing bowl toss the apples with lemon juice. Combine the sugar, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the apples and toss until completely coated. Set mixture aside.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out one ball into a 12-inch circle, and place into a 9-inch pie plate.

Transfer the apple mixture into the pastry lined pie plate. Cut the butter into small cubes and add to the apple mixture. For the top crust, roll out remaining dough, place on top, and seal and flute the edge. Cut slits on top crust to allow steam to escape.

To make the egg wash, crack egg in a small bowl, add a pinch of salt, whisk, and brush on top of the pie. Cover pie with foil to prevent over browning, and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until crust is golden and apples are tender.

Serve warm with ice cream or just plain.

Streusel Apple Pie from Cooking Light 10/94

1 (4-inch) piece vanilla bean, split lengthwise
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1-1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2-1/2 pounds Rome or other cooking apples, peeled cored, and thinly sliced
1 cup all-purpose flour, divided
3 T ice water
1 T sugar
1/4 tsp salt
3 T vegetable shortening
Vegetable cooking spray
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup regular oats
1/4 tsp cinnamon
3 T chilled stick margarine

Scrape seeds from vanilla bean into a large bowl; discard bean. Add 1/4 cup brown sugar and next 2 ingredients to bowl; stir well. Add apple slices; toss well to coat. Set aside.

Combine 1/4 cup flour and ice water, stirring with a wire whisk until well blended; set aside. Combine remaining 3/4 cup flour, 1 tsp sugar, and salt in a bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add ice water mixture; toss with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Gently press into a 4-inch circle on heavy duty plastic wrap; cover with additional plastic wrap.

Roll pastry, still covered, into an 11-inch circle. Freeze for at least 10 minutes. Remove bottom sheet of plastic wrap from pastry; fit pastry into a 9-inch pieplate coated with cooking spray., and remove top sheet of plastic wrap. Flute edges decoratively. Spoon apple mixture into pastry shell. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until apple mixture is crisp-tender.

Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and next 3 ingredients; cut in margarine until mixture is crumbly. Uncover pie, and sprinkle streusel over apple mixture. Bake, uncovered, an additional 25 minutes. Yield: 8 servings. (serving size: 1 wedge)

This is a huge hit with my family. I have had it requested for Thanksgiving!

I took this one to work (it was my Grandmothers) and they LOVED it.

I use pillsbury ready made crust, I used to make my own and I HATE the mess. These taste just as good as homemade and even my brother the connoisseur of pies can't tell the difference. I buy the ones that are in the box and you unroll them in your own pie plate. So with that this pie takes about 5 minutes to prepare.

Apple Crumb Pie

7 Tart Large Tart Apples (I don't always use the tart either)
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
(9 inch pie crust)

Pare apples and cut into pieces. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and cinamon together and sprinkle over apples. Put apple mixture into unbaked pie shell. Combine remaining sugar and flour. Add Butter and rub together until crumbs form. Sprinkle fine crumbs over apples. Bake at 425 for 10 minutes and then reduce to 350 for an additional 35 minutes.
