ok, my year is officially made-NOT!

my best friend's dog bit me today, pretty badly, just got back from the er-i got a tetanus shot and a shot of antibiotics and xrays, and it hurt SO much when they cleaned it out. it's not broken, but they want me to follow up with an orthopedist to make sure the tendon wasn't affected-it's in a splint. i had to get a script of antibiotics filled and it's hard to type with 1 hand. LOL if it is moving ok in a few days, i'm going to skip a followup.

so i won't be posting much till i can type w/both hands-wonder how i am going to work like this?

the dog peed on the floor and was going to walk in it (brand new house) and i reached down to move her, and i guess she was afraid or felt threatened, whatever, she just bit down on my hand and ripped my finger open. my boss is ticked off at me, like i did it on purpose. geesh................

Better today, still hurts a lot but I think it's getting better.

My friend just called, the dog was vomiting this AM, she took her to the vet and she has an ear infection AND a UTI! Guess she was trying to tell someone she was sick - just wish it hadn't been ME! LOL

Karen, your friend's homeowners insurance should be paying your medical bills. And if you lose pay because of this, her homeowner's policy should reimburse you. I know, she's your friend. But, this is why she pays a homeowner's insurance policy premium.

KAREN - I AM YELLING AT YOU. I don't care if your hand feels better in a few days. Don't - DON'T - skip the followup. Dog bites are puncture wounds, which are notorious for deep infections that, if not properly detected quickly, can go into the bone. And if there is a partial tear of the tendon, using the hand can make it worse.

DO NOT SKIP THE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT!!! PLEASE!!!

LOL Ginny. I will see.... this was more of a tear/rip than a puncture. I received antibiotic injections and oral antibiotics. I don't think the tendon was involved. They originally told me to follow up w/my PCP *or* an ortho, and I am seeing my PCP next week anyway, so I will show her, and go from there. Thanks for the concern. It is looking good this morning, it's obviously starting to heal, though it is still VERY swollen and painful.

I got bit by a monkey a few years ago (long story) and had to have one...I was sore for days after! Take care of yourself... and yes, follow up, like Mama Ginny told you!
