I'm nervous about my aunt and uncle...
They live in Conroe, TX which is about 120 miles North from the coast where Houston is. Those who have been through a hurricane, do you think they should evacuate too? They said they were going to Houston today to pick up my uncle's parents and then going back home to Conroe, TX.
Heidi the way the news looks this morning is that everyone is leaving Houston, they will be lucky to get into there. they said they had traffic going in one direction...out. Hope they will stay safe, I have never been thru a hurricane, so have no advice on that. Good luck and prayers to all your family.
Heidi, do you mean Conroe is 120 north of Houston? Houston is approx. 60 miles from the coast. Yesterday they were saying the people in the low lying areas of Houston should leave. Check this site: NHC.GOV, scroll down the page to Rita, then click on the various models to see where the projected path and predicted wind speeds are.
Ok, thanks, Karen. I'll have to check it out. I think they are 120 miles from the coast itself.
I know where conroe is. It the storm directly hits galveston they will get some big winds (maybe even 70 miles an hour), but they should be fine. It will be a bad storm. However, if they drive into houston, they WON"T get back home. I$% is moving 1 mile an hour. It is one awful commute right now.
Heidi, my good friends parents live in Conroe and her sis lives in Houston. Her sis evacuated with her family too Conroe to her parents house. They think they will be fine there! Are they really trying to drive too Houston right now?? Have you heard from them?
I heard that they got them last night instead, so I think everything is going to be fine. Thanks, everyone!
Thats great news, Heidi. I heard that you can't get into Houston today and they are running out of gas. Glad they were able to get them last night.
