Help with songs for a recovering alcoholic
I'm a music person. No matter what the problem, I turn to music to lift my soul. It reaches me when no one else can. My brother-in-law is in rehab (again...) and I am really feeling led to send him a CD with a couple of songs on it: Wine into Water by T Graham Brown and Why Me Lord by Kris Kristopherson. I'd like to add a few more inspirational songs for him, religious or not, if anyone can think of any. Thanks for your help!
Held, by natalie grant!
Little Rock by Collin Raye!!
That's Why I'm Here by Kenny Chesney
The Good Stuff by Kenny Chesney. (It's a recovered alcoholic telling about how he stayed drunk for a few years after his wife passed, but then got sober because the "good stuff" was the memories they shared.
Live Like You Were Dyin' Not particularly about alcohol, but inspirational - definitely!
What about that song about making the choice between sitting out or dance? I dont know the title or anything but it always makes me cry (in a good way) it is probably about 5 years old or so and sung by a woman.
OMGoodness, Crystal, I felt tears come up just reading the title, I LOVE that song, it makes me cry like a baby.. I think the song you are talking about, missmudd, is by Lee Ann Womack I can't remember the name of it either.. "Dance" or something. I listen to alot of contemporary gospel/christian music and there are many I love. Clint Brown is an awesome gospel artist he has many songs that talk about mercy and grace. Very fitting for a recovering alcoholic. Some songs by him are: Mercy and Grace Keep me in your reach Donnie McClurkin: We fall down Great is your mercy Isreal Houghton: I stand in awe ~ this song has really got me through alot. You may not know any of these but they are all terrific and uplifting.
Thank you guys so, so much. You have all been such a help. I now have a good CD to send him. Kaye, thanks so much to introducing me to Natalie Grant. All I can say is Wow!!!
