Has anyone tried...
That Mederma (sp?) for kids. I looked in Wal-mart the other day and I have seen it in the Parenting magazines, it is only $13 for a tube, but I wonder if anyone has tried it. Hailey has a scar next to her eye where she hit it on the couch (if you remember the post). I just wanted to hear some first hand reviews. Thanks Oh and I try not to get that eye in alot of pictures but I snapped one the other day you can really see the scar... On the outside of her left eye
I just bought some for Kaitlyn's cut on her face so I can use it as soon as the Dermabond fully peels away. I used it after I had Kaitlyn for stretchmarks. While it helped fade them, they didn't go away. The thing I didn't like about that (especially for older scars) is that it has to be used a few times a day over about a 3 month period and you have to do it pretty religeously to see results. Kaitlyn just has one little mark and when I was using it, I was trying to cover a belly full of stretch marks. I think for small cuts and marks such as Kaitlyns and Haileys it may be easier to remember to apply it everyday. If you want to wait, I can let you know how Kaitlyn's mark reacts to it. Hers is fairly new so I only need to use Mederma for about 6-8 weeks as opposed to 3-6 months for older scars. (I think they consider older scars over a year old but i'm not positive.)
Great question. I was just thinking the other day to pick some up for the scar I have from my wrist surgery and I was wondering if it really does work?
I just saw this post but I used the Mederma for kids on a large scar on my dd's knee and was just amazed at how much of a difference it made! I can't say enough great things about this. I used it for about 8 weeks and put it on as she changed her clothes in the morning and put her pj's on at night.
Do you think it would work on my ds's scars? They are as old as he is, from his surgeries when he was born, central lines & sort of thing. He has on large one on his belly, one on his chest, one on his neck, 3 on pelvic area & some on his hands.
I'd say it's worth a try, Emily. I am going to buy some and try it. I will post how it goes in a couple months. thanks for all the comments.
I have to tell you that I bought the adult version for a large scar on my arm that is several years old and applied it faithfully for several months and never saw a difference. I even took "before" pics thinking it would be neat to have before and after shots of it. I think it works well on new scars but older ones just don't show dramatic results. Maybe childrens' skin responds better though since they heal so much more quickly than adults do.
I bought the store brand version of this for my dauhgters scares from her chicken pox she had last november. She used it for over 2 months and we never saw a difference. I told the doctor about it and he siad to stop using it becasue it may be irratating her spots more. She has two spots on her chest that still look like they have stuff in them and they stay soar a lot. He told us to have her just put bandages on them with some neosporin when they get soar. This hasn't helped either.
Hailey's scar is a couple months old...maybe. Oh well, I'm still gonna try.
