I'm off for an endoscopy

I'm off for an endoscopy
in a couple of hours. They'll put a tube down my throat and look at the inside of my stomach, and maybe a bit more - I don't know. You'll recall I was in the ER 7/8 with really major abdominal pain. The ER did an ultrasound and my GP sent me for a CT scan with contrast dye, and then to the gastroenterologist, as the CT scan showed nothing. The gastro doc doesn't think I have ulcers but thinks they have to be ruled out. I sure hope I get a diagnosis some time soon - I continue to have a heavy, lumpy feeling just under my left rib cage, noticeable but not painful, and it worries me. And no, it's not gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, or kidneys, and I don't have an appendix or a uterus. And I've had two chest x-rays, one in the ER where because I was sitting/lying on a gurney there were shadows, and one to make sure the shadows were just positional, as they were, and thorough blood tests. I'm not really venting, just keeping you all up to date. I guess I'm venting a bit - I don't like not having a speedy diagnosis. And I haven't had anything to eat for 4 hours and nothing to drink until after the examination. Oh well, there are worse preps to go through for medical testing.
Best of luck with your test. My mom had that heavy feeling all the time under her rib cage, but with test her turned out to be a hiatal hernia. When you get done go out and have yourself a big lunch
{{{{{Ginny}}}}} Let us know how it turns out. After your big lunch, of course.
Good luck. (((HUGS))) Please keep us posted.
Good luck, Ginny. Please, let us know how everything goes! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Good luck, Ginny! Hope all goes well. Ame
Good luck! I hope you have someone driving you to and from.
Good luck, please let us know how you are doing.
I hope your test isn't too uncomfortable, Ginny, and that they find a reason for your pain. It's horrible not knowing. When they find out why, I'll be praying that it's something simple and fixable.
Endoscopy is over, no discomfort at all. It was done by a partner of my own gastro doc, who offered a diagnosis. I don't agree with it, partly because he treated me like a child and kept saying I was still drugged out from the anesthetic, which I wasn't, and partly because when he asked me about certain things and I said no, he said I must be wrong, I just hadn't noticed. Those of you who know me know that (a) I notice, and (b) I certainly don't like being treated that way. I will consult with my own gastro doc, but until I see him will follow the advice given to me today, just in case. My oldest son took the day off and drove me. Scott couldn't get the day off, for a number of reasons, and given the situation at his job right now it seemed better to ask Don. Don stayed about 3 hours after he brought me home, and when it seemed that everything is OK, I sent him on his way.
I am glad that you are having no discomfort & I am sorry that you were treated like a child. I really hate that myself.
I am glad all went well.
Glad you feel okay, Ginny. Hope your diagnosis turns out to be positive.
I am glad that everything went well sweetie.
There is nothing worse than a doctor who will not listen to their patients!!! I'm so glad everything went well and you're ok!
I'm glad you are ok, sorry about the doctor treating you like that. take care
Hope it all turns out well. That doctor needs to learn some manners.
So what was the dx? Gotta be nosey so if you dont wish to say thats ok, just curious. Happy to hear that it was pretty uneventful.
No dx yes, just some temporary dietary restrictions - including NO CHOCOLATE!
Well heck you could have tried that without the endoscopy, lol. Yea I'd get another opinion too.
WHAT??? no chocolate? get a 2nd opinion!
NO chocolate! Oh no! Hope the next doctor is better.
