Potluck tomorrow, need recipe and advice.
I am going to a church potluck tomorrow where there will be alot of kids. Normally for potlucks I do a big batch of baked spagetti sauce and noodles. (1 lb ground beef browned, 1 jar spagetti sauce, 1 jar H20, 1 pound seashell noodles. Mix all together in 9X11 pan, cover with foil, bake at 350 for 1 hour or til noodles are done cover with cheese) My only problem is that where the potluck is going to be is WHITE carpeting, and the owner of the carpeting is pretty crazy about keeping it that way. Would you still bring a spagetti sauce based dish? If not what would you bring that kids would like, and will not cause large amount of damage if it hits the floor. The children will be ages 2-16.
Children Ages 2-16? White Floor?!?.... Marshmallows. LOL! Sorry, can't really think of anything that wouldn't make some sort of stain if dropped (or should I say *when* dropped)
LMAO, marshmellows
Here is a dish that I sometimes take to potlucks. I don't think it would leave nearly as much of a stain as a tomato based dish if dropped on white carpet and my dks and dh love it. HTH Twice-Baked Potato Casserole -6 medium sized potatoes, baked and cut into 1 inch cubes -1lb bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled -salt, to taste -pepper, to taste -24 oz sour cream -2 cups shredded mozzarella -2 cups shredded cheddar cheese -2 green onions, chopped Grease a 9x13 pan. Place half the potatoes in the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and half the bacon. Spread half the sour cream on top of potatoes and bacon. Sprinkle half the mozzarella and half the cheddar cheese on top of sour cream. Repeat the layer with the remaining ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle with green onion before serving.
Lets see if my poor brain can work... Stouffers has that white vegetable lasanga. Family size. Spagetti and Alfredo sauce. No idea how to make it. Vegetable or meat Lasanga with alfredo sauce - no idea how to make it. Spagetti Primevera Oil and garlic and spagetti sauce. Oil and garlic and brocelli. Meatballs no sauce. Meat Loaf
Spagetti and butter for the kids. I would just bring what I know how to cook unless they said no tomato sauce.
Macaroni and cheese. Kids love it and it's not as lethal on a white carpet.
I'm going to a church potluck tomorrow, too! LOL! I'm going to take either my chicken blueberry pasta salad, or the tortellini-cherry tomato-zucchini salad. Supposed to be hot, so maybe the tortellini salald, since it doesn't call for mayo. The chicken salad does. (White carpeting? Yikes!)
Going to be 60 and raining so I cant even shoo my kids outside, acutally nervous just coming in with the guys with possibly wet and or dirty shoes. Sigh. I dont know WHY we arent having this in the church basement. The carpet down there is steel blue berber and easy to clean, and they have a kitchen down there. SIGH....
I'll take your 60 and raining. We are supposed to be in the 90's tomorrow! I think it's going to be HOT, while we are outside for the church service! My tortellini salad is done, and chilling in the fridge!
We're having a church potluck tomorrow too. How weird! I've already made corn casserole. Just finished it up and it's in the frig. All that is left to do is sprinkle it with cheese and heat it up.
LOL! Someone who moved to Iowa recently, but used to go to my church is having a church picnic and a church on the way to my church set up a tent with chairs in it, today, so I'm assuming picnic at their church, too! Wish our church would get a tent, since we will do church outside!
MissMudd, how did your potluck go? My salad almost completely disappeared! It was 90, when we got home, so pretty hot to be sitting out in the sun, to have church! They were going to be playing Bingo, when we left. We were too hot, to play bingo, even in the building and out of the sun! Last year, it was REALLY hot, for the church picnic, also! It just always works out that way!
