My House is OK!
My boss's son just called and he drove to my house on his way to the office to get the major equipment. He said my roof is intact, appears to have lost no shingles, though he could not get into the back yard as the gate was locked, so don't know anything about that, the patio cover, grill, etc. He did say that part of a tree fell on the roof of our Morgan Bldg., so that may need replacement, but for the most part, we are OK!
Oh, Karen! That is truly wonderful news!! ((HUG))
Yay, Karen!! What a relief!! I've been so worried about you guys!!
OMGosh!!!! That's wonderful news!!! What a relief!! I was thinking about you guys this morning. If you need to stay here, you guys are more than welcome. Or, if you know anyone who needs longer term housing, let us know. We have an extra queen hideaway bed downstairs and a single bed, and bathroom down there as well. I know we're in Maryland, but people are going to need housing for quite some time.
Wow. That is good news. Relief!
What great news.
YEAH!! That must be a tremendous relief off your shoulders. {{{Karen}}}
omg, I am crying I am so happy for you!!! (((hugs)))
Horray!!! I am so glad to hear that your house is ok.
Oh mercy! What great Sunday news. God is good.
That is wonderful news, Karen! Is a Morgan building a shed in your backyard? At least the house wasn't damaged!

Fantastic news!
That is wonderful news Karen! Have they said when you maybe able to go home?
That certainly is good news. (((hugs)))
We are going home as soon as the power is on, which, from what we've been able to find out *might* be Monday. I haven't been able to get through to Amy's house where Pam and her family were. I was hoping they would read the board and get in touch, I gave them the # to where I am staying. I don't know about Pam's house..... There are also some members from Plaquemines Parish, and in MS and AL we have not heard from....
Karen, I couldn't be happier for you. Such wonderful news!
Great news Karen!
That is such great news!!! And wouldn't it be great to return, soon. I'm so relieved for you.
Wonderful news, Karen! So happy for you!!
Wonderful news!
OH I am so happy for you! That is wonderful news!
Wonderful news Karen!!! You know we are still here to help out if you need anything. Gas and food are pretty hard to come by at times, so load up before you come down. I'm so glad to hear that your house is okay and I'm sure that is a relief. Let us know if/when you hear from Pam. Kenner didn't fair to well from everything I've seen and heard.
What a relief! That's great news, Karen!
That is wonderful!
Great news, Karen!!!
I'm so happy for you! That is wonderful!
Wonderful news Karen!
Still waiting to hear about the power. My neighbor emailed me from her FIL's house, where she is staying at night, and said now it will *hopefully be this week* for the power. She also said *Don't know what it might smell like inside your house with power down for over a week now. Probably like the neighborhood is starting to smell with trash piling up as others are slowly coming back into the parish and throwing out their rotten food.* UGH! Our regular trash day pickup was the day before we evacuated, and no-one's trash was picked up so it probably was smelling pretty bad already around there. Not only that, the trash cans are full already. My neighbor said that one street (the smallest one in my subdivision) has power, and a few residents are home with generators, so I feel good in that my neighborhood is not deserted. She also said there was a high police presence, they are patrolling regularly, which they normally do in a situation such as this, since we are a small community. It was so strange to actually find my house on the noaa site! We could even see my DH's car we put in the back yard, and our Morgan bldg.! Looks to be high and dry! They are letting Jefferson Parish residents in today thru Wed., as long as they are in line by 6PM, to secure their homes and get things to take with them to leave. Pam is in Jefferson Parish. I can't imagine the traffic and gas lines today as so many anxious, worried people race to get home to see if they still even HAVE a home or their valuables left behind. I think it will be much worse than the evacuation itself.
On the phone with Pam! They have 1 to 2 feet of water in their house They are staying with Amy for the time being. Her DH went back home, is working and staying at work. Pam is homeschooling DS there and going tomorrow to register DD at the school on base. Her house will have to be gutted, everything replaced..... Obviously she is one of the ones that did not fare so well. But - at least she has homeowners and flood insurance!!!!!
Bless her heart! Thank goodness she has insurance!
Oh man, that sucks!! I'm glad they have insurance, and more than that, that they're somewhere safe and doing well!!
Thank goodness Karen! Here's something I learned after we had Hurricane Juan and no power for a week...a scrub with a vinegar solution, then baking soda in the fridge and freezer seemed to work better at getting out smells than any commercial cleaners. Smells and all though it'll feel sooo good just to get back to your house.
Oh yuck. The mess in the fridge, won't be pretty! But, since your house is intact, that is something that is easily fixable.
At least now there is the light at the end of the tunnel.I"m glad to hear that your family(Karen) and Pam's are going to be ok.
Thanks Dawn, for the cleaning solution suggestion!
Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear about Pam's house.
Thank goodness Pam had all that insurance.
Big hugs to Pam... Amy and the ALL the kids too... They are in my thoughts and of course if there is ANYTHING we can do let us know... And I am so glad everything seems to be okay in your neck of the woods... Nasty fridge and all, at least it is still standing and secure. Big hugs...
{{{Pam and Family}}} So sorry to hear about Pam's house. What a shame. Thank God the family is ok. Karen, Glad your house is intact. Any idea yet when you will be able to return?
