This weekend DH and I were supposed to take off for our trip to NYC...from New Orleans. Obviously we can't fly out. We were flying Jetblue and they don't have service anywhere else near us. I've already gotten a refund for my Broadway tickets---super nice customer service! Jetblue will reschedule with no fees for changing the flight. Now I just need to see about rescheduling our flight from NYC to Cleveland and then back to NO (we were going to Ohio Amish country for a 6 day sabbatical after NYC). Hopefully it will all work out and we can go later in the fall without losing the hundreds fo $$ we've invested in this trip.

That is amazing they gave your money back for the broadway tickets. Unheard of. Very nice.

That was nice of Jet Blue too. I like that airline. Usually they just charge $25 but still it is nice they made an exception.

I just got an email from the airline. They are expecting the NO airport to be closed at least until the end of September. Most flights are being re-routed thru Baton Rouge and they are bringing in bigger planes for the routine BR flights.

You know, I had a little pity party for myself last night. I cried because my trip was ruined and then I cried for being such a selfish jerk to be upset that my trip was ruined. I still have my life, my family, my home, my pets, my vehicle, my job, etc. I honestly couldn't go now even if it were possible. There's just too much to be done around here right now with so many devastated people to take care of.

I am so sorry about your trip I know that you had really planned it for a long time. I have a trip to Florida in October and I admit I have already been thinking about what if there is another one ect...my trip could be ruined. I don't think you are being selfish at all just human. You have been through a lot even if you were not directly in the affected area. ((hugs))
