Paper ideas
So in nove I have to write a research paper. Ideas are my worst part...i tend to get them, but rather last minute. So I thought I would post here. The class is the developing person, any age, any developmental period. Some of the suggestions were how divorce affects children, different cultures raising kids, paci vs thumbsucking, euthansia. So nothing is off limits. I probably will end up doind something regarding special needs kids. Any great ideas out there?
How about something about the benefits or success of intergrated preschools which blend typical kids with kids with a range of disabilities. Many of my friends' kids have attended these types of preschools and can't say enough wonderful things about how beneficial it was for their typical child. Hope you come up with something great!
How about developmental readiness versus chronological age for children entering school. I did a paper on that a few years ago and found plenty of information. Good luck!
There was a great series of articles in TIME magazine a few weeks ago about being 13. I like the developmental readiness v. chronological age idea. That has been an issue on this board several times, as has the issue of holding a child back in 1st or 2nd grade. You could both do the paper and be our expert after researching for your paper (along with Deek, of course).
Great ideas! I do have till november, but need to turn the brain on now!
Kaye, quite coincidentally, I was chatting with one of my bosses, who has elementary age children. They didn't delay entering school for their first son, because, of course, "he was the brightest kid in the world", and soon wished they had. Fortunately, they moved the next year, and had him repeat a grade. For their youngest, they held him back a year and now, at age 6 (June birthday), he is just starting kindergarten. I know I wish I had held back my youngest.
