Strange happenings with Aunt Flo....
Ok, I *know* this is too much information, but hey you already clicked to get here!! I had used Alesse birth control for 5 years and stopped so we could have Connor. I started back up again for a few months, had a normal cycle, and then decided to change to the patch. While on the patch, my period was way too heavy and the patch itched. So, I went back to Alesse. Then, while on the Alesse, my period stopped for 3 months straight. Took test after test and I'm not pregnant. (I got the digital ones! LOL) So, the doctor put me on progesterone for 10 days until it kicks in. Then, he gave me a new BC pill called Yasmin. Anyone use this, or have you missed your period this much? And, to admit, I was actually sad when the test said "not pregnant". We're not trying, obviously, but I had thoughts of bows and dresses!!
I have a good friend this happens to often. She has had to have the meds from the doc to get things kick started, I know if you miss too many in a row you have to go in and check. For her it meant real issues with fertility. She has been married 15 years, never used BC and has 4 children. I personaly think that until your body gets straightened out that you might want to consider using a barrier method and trying to get all things straight. Especially if you hopes for another sooner rather than later.
i have used Zovia/Demulen for many years. I had many problems with "Aunt Flow" and was put on the pill to regulate my cycle as a teen. So i stopped to have dd, and went back on to keep my cycle regulated. I find that some months it is very light, but i thought that was a normal to have lighter periods with the pill? i'll have to check at my next physical. I haven't heard much about Yasmin. Good Luck!
I agree with Kaye, Heidi. If you don't *really* want a baby right now, I'd use barrier protection until you're on track again. I use Ortho Cept BCP's and am like clockwork. I have heard of Yasmin though.
My cycle was off for a lond time because I had thyroid problems, not suggesting you do. I used Yasmin in between the depo shot & other than the cost didn't have a problem. For me 1 month of Yasmin cost the same as the shot, which last 3 months.
My periods were goofy for a few months after having Emily. They were like really close together and sort of weird. Then everything got regulated again and went to back to being right on schedule again. At 45, they are still right on schedule, although heavier and shorter. Bleah.
I used Yasmine and my periods were great!! They lasted for about 3 days and were very light. Hardly no cramping. Then we knew we were through having kids so I got my tubes tied and now they are terrible. HEAVY and cramping so bad that it makes me sick to my stomache and shaky. Oh well thats the price you pay.
I am on yasmin now because I have ovarian cysts. Its frustrating because dh had the big v but I still have to take the stuff. Last month I did okay the first two months before that. I literally was in so much pain I could bearly walk, eat anything. It was awful. I have heard good things about yasmin though and I am really hoping the last month is an indication that my problems are behind me.
My period is pretty wacko right now too. I'm not on BC though. Just a bit of trivia, I got pregnant while taking Alesse regularly. I guess it's a lower dosage of bc than most pills. Just thought I'd share that.
