For those who read blogs
Do you get tired of checking on the blogs you like to read to see if anything new has been posted? My DH turned me on to Bloglines a couple of months ago. You get live RSS feeds (don't ask me what that means because I don't know. I just know it works and it's cool) and it will alert you when a blog you have saved to your list has a new posting. No more checking back. I have some of you on my Bloglines list.
Cori got me hooked on Bloglines, she's such a trendsetter! I have noticed mroe people are using it, but I wonder what that will do to link stats if people delete their blogrolls. My roll is still up, but I don't use it now, unless someone has feeds turned off.
hmmm...hadn't heard of it. I don't mind checking in, it gives me something to do. I think I would feel more obligated" if I got an email saying new stuff. BUT one of doesn't update very much and I do forget to check after awhile....LOL. It is funny though I read 5 blogs pretty regular, 3 people from here, 2 more related to pam, grampa is one funny dude! I should branch out more I guess.
I love Bloglines! It has made my life so much easier since I have about 100 blogs I like to stay in touch with. This way, I don't bother with the blogs that haven't updated since I last read. Like Crystal, I've kept my blogroll up so that others don't lose the links I provide. I also like to keep a blogroll so that others know who I read. A recommendation of sorts.
o.k., i am not as cool or updated as you guys. LOL I have heard of blogs but i have no idea what they are or anything. Please fill me in...
OKay I am going to do myself one. I just need a good name.
Patti, blogs are online journals, but they are somewhat participatory in that people can leave comments and you can "dialogue" about interesting topics. Most people usually don't write about super intimate stuff (although some do), more just thoughts about different issues and events that you don't mind sharing with strangers. My DH recently got a legitimate job offer through his blog! This guy really liked how my DH thought about things and emailed, then called him to consider working at this church in Little Rock. We're not going, but he has a new friend out of the deal. Kaye, LOL! I didn't know you read my FIL's blog. Yeah, I never knew he could write so well until he started blogging. He was the first to introduce us to the concept. He's just not as prolific ashe used to be. And about blogrolls...I'd love to have one on my blog, but involved learning html and I'm not that inspired. I'd also like a "what I'm reading" column, but again, too complicated for a computer illiterate like me.
Pam I am not sure why I went to his blog, but I am sure it had something to do with what Robert wrote one time and I had to check it out, I wish he wrote more often. As Cori said, the blogroll absoulutely give reccoendations, through the few blogs that I read often I have often clicked links, looked at other sights, etc. I have found some that I really enjoyed and read now, or maybe even just once or twice. Some that aren't my cup of tea, no biggie.
I am already hooked on message boards- whenever I get the computer, which isn't all that often, that's pretty much all I do. Gosh, whatever would I do if I had to read blogs, too?
I've read certain blogs periodically, and even started one myself, but never finished it! LOL I thought it would be therapeutic for me if I had one, with all the stress and the emotional roller coasters we've had this year. But I must not *need* it as much as I thought, because I never finished the first post!
http://www.dadsview.com/ John started alittle blog. Of course he doesn't have time to add to it... but he does write well doesn't he?
I like James Lilek's blog. He's a Minnesotan columnist with a very dry sense of humor. He's also a dad with a kid the same age as mine. There are also a few entertainment blogs I read for gossip, but they're not for the faint-hearted! Defamer Gawker Perez Hilton <-- this one is crude, beware. I keep one, but it's so boring and I only update it once a month - or quarter sometimes.
