How do you keep apples from turning brown after you slice them. Ds loves apples but not the peeling. I want to send some slices in his lunch box (yes my baby started 5 yr old kindergarten last tuesday,, Boo Hoo) but I don't know how to keep them fresh. Anybody know a tried a true trick?

Rub them with lemon juice. Only a little will prevent browning and it will not alter taste.

Pineapple juice or sprite works too.

dipping them in a small amount of salt and white vinegar mixed in h20 will work too. I do this to my apples b4 drying and you cant tell. Use like a teaspoon of each in a quart of water and mix til the salt disolves.

Sprite or Mt. Dew works great

Sprite? Wow! I'll have to give that a try! My DD after a couple of years of not cutting her apples, now likes them cut! I'm going to try this for her preschool snack!:)

There's a powder you can buy in the baking section of the store...I forget the name..."Stay Fresh" or something?

I think it's called fruit fresh. It really works!
