Mailing cookies
I am doing a cookie swap & have to mail a dozen cookies to a friend, I want to do oatmeal chocolate chip. My question is this, what is the best way to package them to make sure that they don't get hard as a rock. We are supposed to put it in a cute tin, should I ziploc them too? My dh says to throw a piece of bread in the tin, he says that will keep them from drying out. Is there a type of cookie that would mail easier?
Use Press N Seal wrap to make an airtight bag around the cookies. You may want to include a well insulated cold pack to keep the chocolate from melting in all this heat. Almost anything w/o chocolate or icing would be easier because of the melting issue. Ame
Bread does help keep cookies fresh in a tin. I would layer them on wax paper, put the bread in the tin, and send them priority mail.
I would make sure they are in a sealed container as mentioned above, however, I would also get a bigger box and buy some packing peanuts. Put the tin in the larger box and pack the peanuts around the tin, otherwise the person on the other end might just end up with cookie crumbs.
I always used an empty clean Pringles can and cover the outside with fun wrapping paper. Works like a charm! Just make sure you make your cookies the right size to fit.
Pam that is a really clever idea. Thank you all for your input on how to mail the cookies. Here I though dh was crazy. LOL
