How did you tell your husband...
that you were pregnant???!!!! I just found out I am peg. with our FOURTH!!! Any creative ideas on how I should tell him? Thanks everyone!
COngratulations! Sorry no creative ideas from me, but I am sure someone else will post some good ones.
Congratulations, there must be a bug around! I don't have any great ideas off the top of my head but if you google it, I know there are many sites that give great ideas. Now pass the rest of your baby dust on to me, lol!
Congratulations! Have you tied the positive pregnancy test with pink and blue ribbons and handed it to him yet? Ame
I just blurted it out (not much imagination, I know), but the best idea I know came from a friend in college. We were eating lunch in the cafeteria, and her boyfriend was sitting with all of his football buddies at another table. She got a bowl of ice cream and put a big pickle slice on it, and went over and sat down next to him with a big smile. (OK, so it wasn't the most ideal of circumstances, but they eventually married and have been married for over 20 years and have a beautiful daughter, so it worked out )
Put the pregnancy test into a jewelry box (like for a necklace) and wrap it up and give it to him. Is there any "congratulations on your wife being pregant cards?" or "congratulations on number 4 cards?"
Congratulations! I just handed him the positive test. Sorry nothing too creative here.
You can set the table with an extra spot, and put a placecard that says "Reserved for baby, 2006". You can also pick up a baby bottle, and put the test in there, place it somewhere he'll see it. Print out a picture of a stork, write "Coming soon, 2006" and place it somewhere he'll see it. Put a shirt on your youngest saying "Big Sister/Brother". That's all I have right now. Congrats!!
Congratulations Sweetie!!! I just found out I was pregnant too, and I told Chris by having my daughter wear a t-shirt that says, "i'm the big sister" He was very excited. Crystal has some really cute ideas.
Congratulations!!! I knew someone who wrapped up a bunch of different gifts & gave it to him. All leading up to the big gift. I also knew someone else who cooked a theme dinner of "baby" items...baby back ribs, baby carrots, etc... We were trying when I got pregnant, so I blurted it out! Good luck!
Congratulations...no ideas, just wanted to say I am happy for you.
CONGRATULATIONS!! My husband had to tell ME that I was pregnant...the test was in the trash and I thought it was a negative...it ended up being + ! I love that pickle and ice cream idea!! What a riot!!
I called my husband with the second one form work b/c I got a test on my way to work and took it at work and sang rock a bye baby when I called him. He said "your kidding" and I said no and he was happy but we didn't tell anyone for like 4 months.
I had no chance to plan, since we were both there, when I ran the test and both there to see the results. With the second one, I had to go to the clinic anyway to give them a urine sample, to make sure a UTI had gone away. They did a blood test for pregnancy and called me later. I'm sure I just told him. I'm not very imaginative.
whoops, i forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS!
Well- Thanks everyone! I thought I would tell you what I did: I got 3 white t-shirts and wrote with paint on them. While dh was on the computer, in walks my 3 yr old son with a shirt that says, "Dear Daddy," Then my 6 year old dd walked up to him and hers said, "God opened mommy's womb again" (refrencing the Bible about God opening and closing the womb. Then, little Olivia walked in, with her little pig tails bouncing and hers said, "... and I'm a big sister!" At that point he caught on and was so excited. Then we handed him a homemade card that has a verse out of my favorite Psalm (139) that said, "...Marvelous are you works, and that my soul knows very well." The card had a glued heart with the little preg. stick glued to it. Thanks everyone! You all got my creative juices flowing. I'm over the shock and excited now. But, I have some funny news: CONDOMS DON'T WORK!!!!! LOL!
That sounds like the perfect way to have told him. Congratulations again! LOL, but what a wonderful way to find out condoms don't always work.
Congratulations! And just for the record, I was using the pill AND condoms when I got pregnant with Christopher. And we used condoms when I got pregnant the last time too!
Interesting! I'm waiting for the proverbial ten-days-late before I actually do the test b/c I have been wrong before and have weird cycles. Currently 4 days late, and noticeably nauseated today. Topic: I totally plan to do the t-shirt thing if it's positive. Posting anon because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up (least of all mine). Will advise in six days.
Good luck anon! I will be thinking of you!! Congrats Monica!!
Good luck Anon.!! Monica, I am here because the condom didn't work, so I could have told you that before you conceived. LOL. I hope you have a happy and helathy nine months hun. We can be pregnant together. When are you due?
The first time: I wrapped the test up and bought DH some "dad to be" books. I had also bought a "Father's Day" card to have on hand when the time came, a few months later I used it. When I gave him his gifts he was confused and thinking, "Today's not my birthday," lol. The second time he was away for work so I took a photo of the digital test and emailed it to him with the subject line: Check this out. Good luck, Monica! Best wishes, Anonymous!
Congrats to all the Mom's-to-Be! Must be something in the water around here LOL
With my DD, HE told me. LOL! I took a quick test and was sure that I wasn't pregnant. I just really wanted to have some wine with dinner that evening. He came upstairs and I told him how sorry I was, but I just wasn't pregnant--if he wanted to look at the test himself, he could. He brought it into me and said "What do two lines mean again??" The surprised face was all mine that time!!
Dh and I had to run an errand on his lunch hour and so I told him then, that I had taken a test and it was positive. HE informed me that it couldnt be HIS since he had a *V*. We had been married only 4months- so i must really get around i guess?? DUH!!!! So, then I informed him I had taken 4 tests and all were VERY pos. He said if I went to Lab @ Doctors office and tested pos THERE then he would believe me. We literally argued over whether or not I was pregnant. argh!!! So I dropped him off at work and went right over to the clinic to get yet ANOTHER test that came back very pos. lol Called him and he finally believed me. Then he called his doctor and asked him what in the WORLD did he do?? lol Come to find out that doc had not even clipped the tube out of 1 side so had dh gone in to be tested for swimmers we would not have ended up preggers. I had a miscarraige previously so we didnt tell anyone other than our parents/siblings until after 12 weeks. I was wickedly sick and depressed. Scared I was going to lose the baby, had all day sickness and all night sickness, only wanted to sleep. After the 3 months passed I sent a baby balloon bouquet to dh's work congratulating him on being a 'Daddy-to -be' so everyone knew we were preg after that. 5 yrs later: our *baby* has been the coolest surprise / blessing we could have ever rcv'd. He's such a great kid. Congrats everyone!!! Enjoy your pregnancy (as much as possible if you are sick) because it will FLY by.
Didn't have to tell him. I got up early one morning to use the bathroom and test. When it was positive I started to giggle. Dh just out of the bed, ran to the bathroom and asked what was so funny, but he knew. He started giggling, too, when I showed him. It was so cool.
Conni, did he have to go get his "V" redone? Sheesh! You would certainly expect the doctor to do it right the first time! On the other hand, you wouldn't have this wonderful kid, in your family, either!
I wasn't inventive at all. He was with me when i bought the first prego test. When we saw the two lines, i think my jaw hit the floor! We had only been married one month! I was not ready! I was so excited and nervous. He was thrilled! Right after that we went out to buy a washing machine...i was thinking "how can he just go out and shop for washing machines when we just found out we are going to have a baby!" i was in shock! I think i bought 2 more tests just to make sure. With number 2 I bought 2 tests right away. DD was only 9 months old. I showed dh the test with the 2 lines. He was smiling from ear to ear and kissing me and dd. I was again in shock and sort of sad because my dd was my baby, i didn't want to have another baby...not yet anyway.of course i got over that and was happy once it sunk in. I keep tell dh that i want to try for number 3, but he says no. Now I know or sort of know about 10, yes 10 pregnant people! One is due in September and the rest are due at the beginning of 2006. It feels like every time i turn around, someone else is pregnant. Congrats to all you pregos out there!
I told my ex-husband while he was on guard duty (I got pregnant just after 9/11) He was holding a loaded M16, and I just blurted it out. LOL! I'm a little bummed, because DH and I were trying to get pregnant before we found out he was leaving, so now we have to wait until spring. I can't wait to be able to use some creativity this time around.
