Having my gallbladder out...
on Monday! I just had an attack and am up wondering my quiet house. I have been dredding this for sometime now, but the weird thing is that I'm not scared of the actual surgery, but being put under! I am so afraid that I wont wake up! That's normal right? I guess I will feel some relief to the constant pains from the stones when all is said and done. Wish me luck and prayers!
Good luck! I had mine out a few years ago. I was nervous about the anesthsia too. Make sure you tell them you are nervous about it and the drs should be able to put you at ease.
Would you rather not have the anesthesia? LOL Only kidding...you'll do great! Relax and we'll say a prayer tonight for you!
Is this something that they have to knock you out for? Or can they do it like a C-Section? As you can see I have no clue about this kind of stuff. Let us know how it goes.
No, they have to knock you out for it. But it is a fairly quick surgery, so you are not in a deep sleep. I had mine done in 2001, when I was 21. I didn't have the pain, but I threw up constantly. You'll do fine. I have been under anesthesia at least six times. And each time, I still have those same fears. It's completely natural. Make sure you talk to the anesthesiologist. He should come straight out and ask you if you are having any concerns about the surgery.
I'm sure you will be fine. My friend had hers out over a year ago, it was laparoscopic surgery and she went on a cruise 2 weeks later. Good luck!
I had the old, very invasive surgery, and it took forever to heal. Having the incision infected with staph didn't help. The laparoscopic procedures today are fantastic. Talk to your anesthesiologist. They usually explain exactly what will go on. You'll be up and out in no time. Follow you doctor's instructions, and get well quickly. You'll be so glad to get it over. I lost mine over 10 years ago. I've never felt better.
I had mine out at 20, it was sooo not a big deal! Having the flu was worse IMO. You'll be just fine and you won't have to worry about those attacks anymore. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! I'm sure i will be fine. I handled my c-section pretty well. but i was awake for that! LOL. i'll let you all know how i do!
Angela, you will be sore, and I'm sure you will get meds for that, but I also think once you recover, you will feel MUCH better! Good luck tomorrow! Let us hear from you as soon as you are up to it.
You'll do just fine. We'll all be thinking about you and sending along positive wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thinking of you tomorrow. I know it will be just fine!
Angela, Thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow. You will be just fine
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck

Been thinking about you all day long. Prayers that the surgery went wonderfully and that you have a fast and easy recovery! You'll be sore! Take it easy and follow doctor's orders!!!
I am thinking of you. I went through emergency gallbladder surgery a year ago May. I recovered fairly quickly. Take care of yourself.
Thanks everyone for the wonderful support for this! it really made me feel better to read all of your words of encouragment. well, i feel pretty lousy right now, but everything went well with the anesthesia, i did fine through that. i just slept the day away when i got home yesterday. thanks goodness for the drugs to relieve some pain. i am so sore tight now. my dh and mom have been great. Nothing taste better than mom's soup when you dont feel well. time to go back to sleep and get more rest. I love you all! thanks again!
I'm so glad to hear that everything went well. Everyone was thinking of you! I had mine done in September and you will be sore for a couple of days, but, truthfully, I found the discomfort from the stitches worse than the pain itself... so, if that's the worst, it's not that bad. Take it VERY EASY!!! Rest and take the drugs! You'll feel better before you know it!
I'm so happy all went well. Just rest and get better! Ame
Glad your surgery went well
