Kids here are going back to school on August 2. Mine (homeschooled)have been doing some lessons (mostly geography, science & field trips) through the summer, but we'll start our full load w/new books and all that week too. My MIL works for one of the local school systems & goes back to work (no students) on Thurday. Just wondering when everybody around the country goes back.

BTW I don't mind them going back early! It's too HOT to be outside here in August anyways. We do ALOT in the summer & then take most of December off!

Mine goes back Aug. 15 (private school). I'm in Texas where kids start anywhere from early to late August depending on district. If the school finance bill passes, which is being discussed in the current special session, all schools in Texas will start the Monday after Labor Day! The tourism industry has been asking for this for ages. The schools are screaming!

We got out June 9th and go back Aug. 23rd, which is a week earlier then last year. But, they get out June 2nd next summer.

Here in Sw VA we got out on June 2, and we go back on August 11. As the schedule is now, we will get out next year on May 12, but we'll be there till at least the end of May I'd say, due to snow.

My girls go back Aug 23 and I can honestly say Im not looking forward to them going back. With them being 16 and 13 we are enjoy their time off. The 16 year old is still trying to find a job.

I was looking at my school district's website and found out we actually start on September 1st. I thought we started on the Tuesday after Labor Day! I'm glad I looked. We had no clue!

Next year, we start after Labor Day, just not this year!
